I’ve been reading on here about the vulnerability of the Land Cruiser to theft and just came across this article about Toyota offering an add on anti-theft device that adds an additional security fob and a secondary immobilizer. My question is, have the security enhancements already been made to production at some point along the years or does this apply to all years and production, including new ‘27 production? It seems completely ridiculous for Toyota to have a recognized commonly used theft vulnerability along with a developed mitigation and then not incorporate it into new production which could obviously be done for far less cost than doing it after the fact at dealers.
And BTW, the welcome comments of “Welcome to the asylum” couldn’t be more appropriate - I’m still waiting for delivery and I’m spending an inordinate amount of time reading about theft and dead batteries…
