Down here in the south, my frozen bottle of water turns to steam after 5 minutes in the truck with the windows up and the engine off.
I just wish it were bigger, particularly deeper. I had one in my LX570 (200 series) that could easily hold 4-6 water bottles/cans PLUS some snacks with chocolate in them that I wanted to keep cold.
Going to buy a 2026 land cruiser when they come out, and since supposedly the cool box is going to be an option instead of standard on the trim I want, trying to figure out if I want it. Heard a lot of people sat they would just rather have the storage, but can’t the cool box be turned off and essentially just be used as storage? Am I missing something?

Yes, it can be turned off, but far less space than if that area was only used for cargo vs the Cool Box mechanism.

Yes, I keep mine turned off 95% of the time and then you can use for storage. I bought a tray to place on top for sorted shallow storage which is key and actually keeps me from cluttering.
I do believe the "cool box" storage area is smaller (kind of like a deep hole) rather than the storage area without the cool box. Believe it is longer. Someone without will chime in here I am sure.
Ours has the cool box. Would I have opted for one if it wasn’t included in the premium package? I can’t say. I have used it, it holds four water bottles (or three and my sunglasses). Thirty minutes of driving gets contents of cool box pretty cold, sunglasses included. I suspect the models that don’t have the cool box will have a good bit more space in the console than four water bottles worth of real estate.
One idiosyncrasy with the cool box- if it is “on” you can’t turn the A/C “off” (but you can turn up the temperature in HVAC).

The FE came with the cool box (no choice), before I took delivery, I had made up my mind that it was a useless item that I was forced to pay for and I'd never use it.
I am very glad I was 100% wrong! I use it on every out of town trip, it is smaller than the standard console box and the storage compartments in the LC is limited and do not exist, but in my opinion, I added work arounds for storage and there is not much better than an ice cold drink while driving on a 1000 mile trip..

Yes. It can be turned off, or on.
My GF and I always take 6 12oz cans of something. Usually 4 Diet Coke, and 2 seltzer waters. They always get consumed on any trip we take. Especially if I am getting tired, but need to make it to the next motel, or home again.
Could not agree MORE. I was thinking the same thing about it before I got my old LC but SOOOO happy I had it. I don't use it daily but it's awesome for long days in the driver's seat, whether it's on the highway or trail. It's just so convenient to be able to grab a very cold drink whenever you want it.
It was even more convenient on my old one, where I had a swing-out tire carrier. So, getting to the fridge in the back was a multi-step process.
Anyone remove it for a mod?

Typical center storage area. At least my lid does not pop like everyone elses.

As a matter of fact, I am not having any of the other issues I'm seeing on this forum.
Unexpected use I found for it: in the summer my iPhone is always overheating and dimming the screen when I take too many photos (of my Land Cruiser in scenic places). Tossing it in the cool box helps a lot!
Also I end up keeping cold drinks in there all the time now, so the positives have won me over vs. the lost storage space. It probably helps that our other car (a plug-in hybrid) has less storage space there than you get from putting a tray in the top of the cold box in the Land Cruiser because they used the space for batteries. I had a two year head start on getting used to the lack of storage.

I agree. We use our cool box ALL THE TIME. Pop a can of Diet Coke into a yeti can tumbler, and we are good to go. But I need to remember to use it to cool down the 15ProMax!!

It is a "cool" 
item to have actually. At first I was not a fan but now I am. Mostly just use for storage. But it has been used to cool down the phone, keep protein bars from melting, cool drinks down quickly, and my favorite is that it holds my large 32 oz Nalgene water bottle with a Yeti Tether cap perfectly!

It does cool things down. The wife keeps her bars and others things that may "Melt Down",,,It is a "cool"
