How come your adaptive cruise control is still working ? Mine only works for 30 minutes everytime after starting and ""system stop" will pop up.

I'm not sure why yours does that. I travelled all weekend and probably drove 700 miles. I used my radar cruise for 85% of it. I've never had an error code since the install. I will say that I had a top notch shop do the install. They primarily do work on new vehicles and are used to "calibrating" the systems after suspension lifts and such. They are a massive outfit in Atlanta called Southern Offroad. Maybe there is a calibration that needs to be done. Maybe ARB is right and it's not compatible with vehicles with cross traffic alert for some more complicated reason.

I asked this question of my dealer. They said that all the sensors on the front have to be recalibrate for a new bumper. Don't know the cost but the head service guy has a new Taco and his did the same thing with the safety stuff. He recalibrate and everything went back to normal. Doesn't mean you'll have the same results just what I was told.

With our bumper the cross traffic sensor is completely behind the wing, so it never "sees" anything so the function will never trigger. The only way to make it active is for us to design a completely new wing to accommodate it. If you read the tech info on the sensor it is extremely sensitive to what is in front of it. Even to the level if the plastic bumper is cracked in front of it there is special procedures for fixing it.

Some companies might relocate it but not sure if they calibrate afterwards. Some companies incorporate into the wings with 3D printer windows in front of it. Also something that is not recommended by Toyota.

If you relocate it you would have to keep the relative angles and position the same for it to work properly. There is a expansive writeup on TIS (Toyota Factory Service info) on how to calibrate it.

The sensor was as surprise to use since we developed our bumper on the 1958 that did not have it and then when we built our FE we discovered it.

We have not experience any cruise malfunction due to the sensors being behind the wings. However if you moved them and they can "see" in front of them but not what it expects then I can see there might be issues. Also not sure if the cross traffic and cruise is even coupled since the cross traffic has a very specific set of rules when it will trigger and some of that is speed.

When we brought up the issue with ARB USA when the released the bumper for the 250 they were not aware of it. I do not believe the Australian spec Prado has Safety Sense 3 (which is when the front CTA was released). That is the vehicle that ARB used to develop that bumper.

I just installed an ARB off-road bumper on my Land Cruiser and ran into some issues with the sensors. I’d really appreciate your input:

1. I understand that the cross-traffic alert isn’t compatible with this bumper. That part doesn’t bother me.
2. After the install, I used a zip tie to relocate the cross-traffic alert sensor.
3. When I started the engine, I disabled cross-traffic alert in the dashboard settings.
4. For the first 15 minutes everything worked fine, but then I got multiple warnings:
   • Pre-collision system disabled
   • Lane keep assist disabled
   • Adaptive cruise control disabled
   • Message: “See owners manual

• Is there a way to clear the malfunctions and get the adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, and pre-collision system working again?
• Are there recommended relocation methods or brackets for the sensors to avoid these errors?
• I don’t mind losing cross-traffic alert, but I’d like to keep the other safety features functional.

Any advice or first-hand experiences would be really helpful. Thanks in advance!

Yes, I do. I took it to Toyota Dealership, but they couldn't fix it. I'm really mad and disappointed with ARB this time. Their office guys are full of shitt (forget my profanity). I emailed ARB multiple rounds, and their replies are just like: I don't know, we don't perform install in house , go work with Toyota and best of luck. I was the first customer report this issue to them, and then ARB added a note on their website (not compatible with Front Cross Traffic Alert Sensor)

For people getting the error. How often are you getting the error? Is it all weather conditions? Does it feel timed like after a certain amount of time.?

So trying to pin point this issue. Mine does it only when I have adaptive cruise control turned on and it does it after like 40 minutes to hour while driving with the adaptive cruise control on. And even did it a few time when the adapter cruise control was turned off, but it was still on in the background in the dashboard.

Getting kinda annoying you have to pull over turn the car off and turn it back on. I wish ARB would address this.

You need to make sure that the front cross traffic sensors are positioned at a 45 degree angle to the front of the vehicle. They cannot just face forward or any other direction. The harness connections need to be facing downward and the face of the sensor needs to be at a 45 degree angle. Your cross traffic sensors will likely not work anymore in the HUD, meaning the little yellow directional alert arrows in the HUD will likely not alert you / appear anymore as the sensors are obstructed from the steel bumper, but the dash lights should stop popping up and creating the annoying nanny messages.

Happy to report I've had zero issues with my Ironman bumper for several thousand miles, which is fully compatible with CTA features, although I have a 1958 trim. This issue and ARB's lack of support for owners is what drove me away from their product line.

I still can't believe they haven't publicly addressed this, because it's a h--- of a lot of work to install these bumpers; I would be furious.

Yes - it took tremendous time to figure out the trigger issue and which sensor it in fact was. Multiple relocations were done in order to get it where it is now. I am happy with it and confident I have resolved the issues.

That is a nice looking heavy duty guard. Too bad it causes errors to the Toyota side sensor alert systems. So what are better options?
Maybe simple Bull Bar or something less massive??
Reminiscent of problems with bike racks caused false alarms in rear sensor issues.
