Hi y'all, just a little update, I notice when i have Passengers in the rear seats i can see when they are not wearing their seat belts on my dashboard, but as soon as i start to drive i hear no chime or warning that the seat belt is on and still see that no seatbelt was put on dashboard. A few seconds from driving it will disappear. Little bit concerning that this happen all of a sudden, especiallyairbag side curtainsare there. I do have appointment to get it checked out next week and will update on what they find.

Has anyone else ran into this issue?

Current mileage is 11,269 and daily driven.

I turned the rear seatbelt chimes off and have a car seat in the rear. I get 2 red dots (of 3) on the dash indicating 2 rear seat belts aren't fastened.

It been this way from day 2, no issues at all.

Is there a way to turn it off? I might of turned it off on accident if that is the case. It happened to me twice already where i knew my friends weren't wearing their seatbelt and it indicates it wasn't fasten, but no chime at all, then the indicator would turn off with them with no seatbelt.

You can’t turn off the chimes by accident, you need something like a Carista and you have to consciously do it.

Update time, dealership told me i will only hear the chime go off if the passenger already fasten their seat belt and took it off when im driving. They said i will not anything go off even if they are seating there and never fasten their seatbelt, but will still get the red dots in the dashboard. Im a little confused about because my wife lexus will go off regardless if the seatbelt if fasten or taken off when she is driving. Am I just looking at this wrong? Currently talking to another dealership to understand it better/confirm it.

That's correct, I turned off my rear seatbelt warnings and only get the red dots. I have my G-Baby's car seat in the back seat with a seatbelt buckle extender, so I only get 2 red dots (vs 3).

This is completely normal. You start the car up and you see the red dots, or lack of for what seats in the back are buckled in. A minute or so later it disappears. IF someone unbuckles their rear seatbelt you will see the dots again along with who just unbuckled their seatbelt... You may be asking how do I know this. Well, my 4 year old daughter was in the rear seat, buckled in and she wanted her teddy bear also securely fastened. Well, half way home, she changed or mind and she unbuckled him (or her... I have never really checked... ... it) and I thought the battery was about to do a TeSSla impression.

You can have the dealer disable the beeping. Not entirely sure why you do not want to not be aware the rear seat passengers (typically younger) take their seatbelt off, but people are stupid.

Let's say my passenger never buckled their seatbelt (which has happened) and i already started to drive off, should the seatbelt chime go off to alert me and the rear passenger that their seatbelt is not on? My understanding that it should go off even if they didnt buckle in before the drive started, I am just confused if it changed because thats how my wife's lexus works. If it does work that way, does that mean my rear airbags is disabled because it is recognizing that there is no one in the back because no seatbelt has been fasten in the rear seats.

I am unfamilair with Lexus, but the Land Cruiser (and previous Honda Ridgeline and Previous Subaru Ascent And Previous 2 Subaru Outbacks) are all pretty much the same.

Driver / Front Passenger = if you drive off without buckling the seatbelt the car will beep at you. The passenger has a sensor in the seat to monitor if there is a butt in the seat (or heavy briefcase) which triggers the alert.

Rear Seats = The Land Cruiser (and all my previous vehicles) NEVER alerts for anything. I suspect these vehicles do not have a sensor in the seat to monitor weight ($$$). The Land Cruiser does have a sensor to look if the seat belt it buckled or not and while in motion if a buckled seat is unbuckled, there is an alert. It would be nice if you could acknowledge and disable said alert on the steering wheel for when say your daughter unbuckles her teddy bear.
