First the info:
My 2025 LC250 premium is about 6 weeks old.
When I drove it off the lot, it would slow down automatically when I approached a slower or stopped car.
I don't care for that but my wife likes it. It does make me feel better when she's driving it though.
I did set up my favorite and her favorite dashboard displays.
Now:
About a week ago she said it no longer slowed down automatically as you approached another vehicle. I confirmed that and went through all the setup options. PCS is on. I even did a factory reset but still no active PCS. Could it be that some other function is preventing it?
Also, when using the Dynamic Cruise Control, it does work so I don't think it's a sensor issue. Any ideas to try?
It's such a small issue that I don't want to take it to the service department until the 6 months check up.

its a setting in the gauge cluster settings called pda proactive driving assist and you need to make sure the da deceleration assist is on

Is it possible that your first experience with slowing down occured with cruise control on? Maybe even without realizing you were using DCC?

My LC, and every other Toyota I have ever owned with Safety Sense, has never adjusted throttle or brake input automatically except as an "emergent" measure when the vehicle determines that a collision is likely. Certainly, there has never been any slowing or pacing. If anything, PCS is always abrupt with lights and sounds.

Pacing the speed of ahead vehicles sounds exclusively like DCC.

In my 1st days of ownership, I had something similar happen. I don't know if yours is the same .............

While messing with the Steering wheel cruise control buttons, I didn't notice that I had inadvertently changed the Cruise/PDA/something settings. Figured out what I did and played with the settings till it all started working again....... If I remember correctly, it was the "A" or "B" switches. When you press them the "Cruise" icon changes etc...... It was not the "following" distance. I apologize for the confusing post, but I truly don't remember what buttons I pushed/changed. All I remember that when I pressed the "A" button (I think) the cruise icon on the dash display, changed (like it subtracted part of the icon).

I have noticed with active cruise control on the Toyota will come to a stop. When not using cruise, the Toyota will slow down but below about 10mph the system seems to stop and begins to alert you to apply the brakes. I have not tried to see if I wait will it intervene or not. While their system is better than my old Honda, some of the Toyota technology appears is not as cohesive as Subaru or Mercedes (potentially others but these are the 2 I am familiar with).

Exactly the same thing I have noticed. With Active Cruise on, the LC will come to a stop, but without, it will slow down as the OP mentioned, but will not totally stop. However when pulling into my garage, as I approach the back, it will hit the brakes hard, quite hard, and "brake" will be displayed. I also inadvertently turned off the system while trying to understand the instrument cluster and ended up going back to the dealership and having them go over the system again. The dash has a lot of settings and such and it's easy to get confused.

What is your distance set to? The setting that controls dynamic cruise control following distance also controls the brake distance for PDA.

I have mine set on the longest setting
I set mine to second to last. I basically want to to kick in if it is reacting to something that I failed to react. Otherwise it feels like I am fighting with the car.

Thanks for the ideas. I've tried everything but did leave the PDA off. I was afraid my wife might take it through a car wash with that on and the LC decide to do something undesirable on it's own.

turning off pda will disable da. this is independent from drcc and changing the range.

Here's an update. It works correctly now. I turned PDA on (I swear it was off when we got the LC) and there are 4 sub settings:
Sensitivity - 3 possible levels, it was in level 2 and I left it there.
SA (Steering Assist) I turned this off. I thought this might be unhelpful in tight places.
DA (Deceleration Assist) I left this on.
OAA (Obstacle Avoidance Assist) I turned this off. Again I thought this might be unhelpful in tight places.

SA and OAA might get turned back on after some future experimenting.

Yepper, in the beginning I turned most of it off, then as I experimented with the different functions and got used to the steering inputs and how to over come them........ I turned everything back on. The exception being the backup assist (or what ever the proper name is).

As an example........ if you use the blinker, the vehicle will actually change lanes all by it's self or it will allow to to steer as if it were turned off. One word of caution.......... It tries to follow exit lanes or on-ramps, but once you get used to it, keeping a firm hand on the wheel with a slight steering adjustment, all is well. I use it on every highway trip and find it very useful. If you get in to heavy traffic and find you might have to follow a little closer than normal to keep an idiot from cutting you off (when there's no place for them to go), I hit the cancel button and drive normal until the road opens up again.
