Hey everyone! I just wanted to make a quick intro post. I've been driving Toyotas since 2008 and have had 5 Tacomas and 1 Tundra. My wife has had 3 4Runners, a RAV4, and a Highlander, and there are a ton of Toyotas in my family. I'm just comfortable in a Toyota. Personally, I've always had trucks, though I've considered a 4Runner a couple of times, but the Land Cruiser was always that aspirational vehicle for me. There's a couple of milestones for me this year and I have found myself contemplating trading my perfectly fine 2024 Tacoma TRD Sport Hybrid for a 2026 Land Cruiser. So I'm here to learn as much as possible and ask questions of the folks that are putting them through their paces everyday!
Welcome! I researched LC competitors to death and ultimately picked the LC LC (always desired one). We bought a 2023rav4 for my son and the experience with that sold me on toyota's hybrid systems, which was the biggest hang-up i had with LC while debating purchase.
We've owned audi bmw and mercs for past 20 years, so i still wanted luxury and nice interior.
What sold me on the LC LC-
Hybrid system: never lugs going up hills and transmission programming is exceptional comparitively. Never feel like i need to override the transmission's gear choice. I truly despise automatics, this is one i can live with.
Head room: im tall and can wear a hat in this. Added seatjackers which was necessary for my long legs.
Buttons: control freak here, so buttons and quick access control were a must.
Offroad capability and comfort off road: exceptional. It has gone everywhere our jeep with 35s has gone, except no need for neck brace or mouth-guard.
Serenity: the LC is truly relaxing to drive. A born racer, i never feel the need to break the speed limits or push the vehicle's limits on pavement to feel enjoyment in this. This is the only car ive had that relaxes me this way.
Things that annoy-
Beeping all the damn time, turning off most of the safety crap (most of it dangerous if you are a good driver) limits this - governments and shite drivers to blame for this, mostly.
Small gas tank for vehicle type.
Hvac is awful, im running a +2c offset with carista and it is mostly okay now. If outside temp is below 70f im constantly fidgiting with it. Not wearing a jacket while driving is mandatory to not sweat when it's cold outside.
Crap/incompetent dealer service departments; German brands were all trustworthy (luck?). This is my biggest issue the LC.
In summary i would buy it again if stolen (might reconsider gx550 for lexus service) but from a different dealership.
