LC250 vs. Ford Bronco off-road

Boy have I underestimated the delusion level of our fellow Prada Landcruiser owners. There is absolutely no comparison between lc250 and Bronco raptor offroad and Onroad. Sure Landcruiser will hold its own the same way a propeller plane holds its own against a f35. I mean come on guys please make this stop. This is getting embarrassing . The Bronco raptor can be had for mid 70s after discounts.
I’ve had both the badlands and the Bronco raptor and the only place they fall short of lc250 is cabin noise due to the stupid removable top that never gets removed . Other than that they the bronco raptor rides far better than lc, much more stout power train and let’s not even get started on offroad spec

  • Engine: 3.0L EcoBoost V6 with 418 horsepower and 440 lb-ft of torque.

  • Suspension: High-Performance Off-Road Stability Suspension (HOSS) 4.0 with FOX Live Valve 3.1 Internal Bypass Semi-Active Dampers. This system is designed for high-speed desert running and provides significant wheel travel (13 inches in the front).

  • Tires: Standard 37-inch BFGoodrich All-Terrain K02 tires on beadlock-capable wheels.

  • Drivetrain: Advanced 4x4 system with a two-speed transfer case and a 3.06 4x4 LO ratio for an impressive 67.7:1 crawl ratio. It also features electronic-locking front and rear axles.
  • Off-road Angles:
    • Approach Angle: 47.2°
    • Breakover Angle: 30.8°
    • Departure Angle: 40.5°
  • Ground Clearance: 13.1 inches.

  • Other Features: Heavy-duty modular front bumper, steel bash plates, and various G.O.A.T. (Goes Over Any Type of Terrain) modes, including Baja and Rock Crawl.

I did start the thread by acknowledging that I think the Bronco is probably a stronger off-road choice... Having said that, you've cherry-picked the Raptor which is $100K and much too wide for at least one of the trails I recently did in my LC. Compared to a standard Bronco the LC will perform quite admirably. My take was somewhat tongue-in-cheek and meant to evoke some discussion of the off-road chops of the LC. I'd disagree with you about the ride of a Raptor, which I've driven. It's much rougher, much louder, and much less comfortable. The LC IMO is the far superior daily driver and road tripper. Fox Shocks have generally not tested out well in blind tests, so I'm not sure that they are actually better. In general, I think the Bronco is a great machine, just not the right one for me.

The bronco could climb Everest in 2wd and i’m still not taking it for free. And did someone here list an ecoboost in a ‘plus’ column
I've watched Eric from I Do Cars tear down a number of Ford EcoBoost engines. They aren't all bad, but they are far from a reliable powertrain.

LCs biggest drawback offroad is the ground clearance that is 3 inches lower than badlands. ground clearance is probably the most important parameter when it comes to offroading. the second disadvantage of the LC is the front skidplate that is mounted to the radiator bracket instead of the chassis. if you keep it to 3/10 trails you will do fine. but on 6/10 trails you just cant compete with the bronco badlands on 35s.
as far as onroad, yes the LC has a significant advantage due to solid roof instead of the removable top on the bronco. the removable top is really useless and wish they came out with a solid top like Everest.
Ground clearance is a simple metric that doesn't really describe actual performance of the overall machine. Why? Articulation plays a vital role in determining the ability to climb and clear any obstacle. It's just not as simple as saying the ground clearance is 9". Having said that, more clearance never hurts :) Put the LC on 35s, add a small lift, and the LC will compete on an even playing field with the Bronco. I don't want 35s nor do I want to do Cleveland Rock. So, it's great for me. I'd probably go Jeep over Bronco for serious rock crawling. Here's a pic of Cleveland Rock...

35s with a spacer lift and some skids. These really are extremely capable. Plastic bumpers took a few hits but I ran 6 and 7 rated trails in Moab with zero issue this spring. This is on poison spider. Walked right up.

With some modifications, not much that the LC can't do. Thank you for sharing!
