Issues with CBI/Prinsu Rock Sliders & my 2025 LC '58

I should probably preface this by saying I'm pretty exasperated and disappointed with CBI/Prinsu. I'm just trying to figure out how to install these new sliders.

After waiting a month longer than they originally promised, I finally received them a few days ago. Included was a small bag of seemingly random bolts and washers. Three different size bolts: 19 silver ones, 2 smaller silver ones, and 2 large gold ones, along with their respective washers. Although the bulk of the washers seem too big for the 16 main bolts they say are needed. There was no other literature or communication, no manual or instructions included or on their website. The only thing is a 2 minute video that fails to show you where bolts are being inserted, doesn't itemize all the parts included in my shipment, etc. After calling CBI initially, they then guided me to a link to another install video for the GX550. That was a much better video, but was ultimately no help.

It seems to me that all of the bolts do NOT fit the appropriate frame holes (too small and don't contact threads), and there's no apparent hole for the larger bolt that goes through the frame.

As for CBI/Prinsu customer service... I'm stuck in a ridiculous cycle. They tell me I have the correct bolts but yet don't address why it is I have more bolts than they say I should have, or why it is they don't fit. No one seems to think it's important and despite numerous requests, they won't pick up the phone and call me. I should stick to solving the immediate problem which is why I'm reaching out to anyone that may be able to help, and may have to make my own trips to the hardware store to figure something out. I didn't bargain for this added time, effort and aggravation when I decided to order them.

Does anyone have any recent experience installing these CBI rock sliders on their Land Cruiser 250, and a 2025 '58 in particular? If so, any suggestions at all you can provide would be much appreciated.

Thank you!

@Gasser18 posted his for sale and looked like they were mounted in his listing photos, maybe he can help?

Thanks. Messaged them. Though seems they're on a 2024, where as I have a 2025 '58. I wonder if that could be part of the issue and CBI/Prinsu failed to identify a change Toyota may have made? I'm speculating as I don't have any other info at this point and I'm getting no help from Prinsu.

If anyone might have an underside picture of their CBI sliders installed, I would appreciate seeing them. In particular the area of the frame where you placed the large gold bolt through it.

I don't have CBI sliders, but being there's a large square reinforcement washer, I would assume the long 1/2" bolt goes through an existing hole (perhaps oval/elongated) in the frame and with how long the bolt is, I also would guess that hole is where the frame has been boxed in. The large square washer would go on the inner-most side of the boxed in section.

Yea, but there doesn't seem to be a hole for that bolt. And their minimal instruction and sales info make no mention of having to drill one.

I installed my Slee sliders and they used a few stick nuts on the driver's side for areas that the frame wasn't pre threaded, and they recommended chasing all the threads in the frame pre installation, which helped a lot. Their instructions for the GX show them using a bunch more stick nuts, seems like maybe that frame didn't have as many factory threaded mounting points. Maybe there's something similar going on with your frame? Good luck!

They continue to suggest that the bolts they sent me are correct, despite the fact that these take a 13mm socket and they claim they should take a 17mm socket. In the email received today... again, no call... they 'think' it might have something to do with the trim package of my 1958.

1St edition, LC/LC and 1958, use the exact same frame.

Echoing @EOD Guy , not only is the frame the same for the LC variations, but the Slee sliders also install using the same holes on the nearly identical GX 550 frame. I'm sorry you are dealing with such poor service! It just shouldn't be that hard.

Thanks!

Thanks to a detail provided by another member here, there appears to be black plastic plugs covering the hole where the large 1/2" bolt goes through the frame. I will check it out tonight.

And I think all the other bolts they sent me are a simple mistake CBI failed to see or acknowledge. They should be a larger M10 17mm bolt, not the 13mm they sent me. I will run to the hardware store to buy some and see.

Though I did, finally, receive a phone call from CBI/Prinsu this afternoon, they didn't provide any information other than to say that they're working on it. Apparently this is rocket science.

I had a similar experience with CATuned installing their sliders. Poor manufacturing and garbage customer service.

I don't disagree, but if you look at the Slee instructions for the GX platform they call for way more stick nuts to the point that they charge an extra $100 for the hardware, so clearly there's some difference in frames between the GX and LC platforms. I just brought it up because maybe that is carrying over into the 1958 trim, though I agree that would be unexpected. I'm just glad we didn't need to use more stick nuts, those were a pain!

That extra $100 could be just the "Lexus" tax........LOL

Haha, maybe! Just looked again and it looks like it's 12 additional stick nuts but just for the premium and luxury trims. A bit surprising that the frames would be different, and that many stick nuts would make the installation a real pain

Yes, more stick nuts, but it's still the same holes. The difference is that the holes don't have the weldnuts installed from the factory. My guess is that since the GX550 comes with running boards on the non-overtrail/mall crawl trim, they don't expect anyone to off-road those trims. So, no need to install the weldnuts during construction of the frame. It's the kind of thing that probably drove Slee nuts when working on the design.
