Is your fuel efficiency affected too?

Please tell me you have a roof rack and bigger tires/lift as well loll
I have the factory cross bars and 255/70/18 blizzaks and I averaged ~18.8 mpg this winter. Now with the stock Dunlops on 20’s I’ll probably get ~22 mpg. No lift, I wouldn’t want to hinder the performance of a fully capable vehicle.

I’m jealous, I just hit over 1.2k and I’m averaging 18. I’m beginning to wonder if there’s any kind of tune that can be done to help with this

The tuning you’re looking for is to return the vehicle to stock. Ditch the lift kit, roof rack, and heavy oversized tires. Enjoy better fuel economy.

Pretty simple.

Your Land Cruiser has been modified to enhance off road performance at the expense of on road drivability, performance, and operating efficiency. Adding aerodynamic resistance from a lift kit, and roof rack, coupled with larger heavier tires with more rolling resistance and more rotating un-sprung mass is murdering your fuel efficiency.

LARP’ing like you’re an overlander comes at a cost.

The trucking industry has studied fuel efficiency to a degree most people never do. Cummins even has an informative publication on the topic.

Got any pics?

Any weight you put on a vehicle is going to have an effect on MPG, the LC is a brick, you're not going to get fantastic mpg on the interstate at 75mpg. I don't know why people haven't learned to ignore the window sticker EPA numbers, they are rarely accurate.

Still better than my FJ. Im not really into it for the number crunching.

I have over 10k on the odometer on my first edition and AT tires no lift. I get about 17 mpg average and about 270 miles per tank.

Ya same here. I’m getting like 280 and some change but man I need this thing to get at least 320 per tank.

Please tell me you also have a lift/bigger tires and roof rack as well loll. I’ve been driving it pretty easy, but I’ve been tempted to give it at least 65% throttle. The turbo sounds nice when I accelerate, however I’m driving about 45-50 miles one way for work b 5 data a week. I needs this to be a bit better on gas mileage lol
Just running stock and no roof rack.

You’re teasing me, dawg..

Cruising, honestly. When I'm running 40-45mph I'm light on the throttle and let the engine shut off, I use the one-foot-style driving and I can get it to sit on the electric motor for a long-while. The goal is to not let the engine turn on before the next light.

I think the EPA numbers are accurate. It’s just that many herein won’t take the time to understand the involved city & highway cycles and / or modify their driving accordingly (to the extent they want to replicate the numbers).

Also, there is some lagging ignorance as to the volatile mpg for a small turbo 4 especially relative to city-type driving.

I'm almost at 3k miles and my average is 19.3 w/ city, highway and warm ups. Its been getting better and better recently, so I wouldnt be surprised if I keep going up. When I'm mostly highway between 50-65 I'll actually average over 25mph. Saturday I got 25.5 with mixed driving into Coney Island NYC for the aquarium. It definitely gets better and better with a break in. Everything is stock for me and I have OEM roof rails.

So, I’ve been averaging between 16-18mpg on the freeway since I got my LC about 2 weeks ago and I haven’t been driving with a heavy foot or even go faster than 70-75mph.

I’m not sure if it’s the lift kit, tires/rims, and roof rack, but should that even affect the fuel economy that much? Especially considering this is an inline 4cyl turbo hybrid, it’s pretty disappointing when specs show that I should be at 22/25mpg city/hwy. And I’m WELL below that lol.

Has anyone else here been under 20mpg with their fuel efficiency?
Are there any tune options to help fuel efficiency on these?

Thanks in advance, any and all help is appreciated 🤙🏽
There isn't any "tune" that is going to help you. Driving a 2-1/2 ton brick with a lifted suspension + A/T tires + a roof rack at 75mph for the majority of the competition would be thrilled to get about 17mpg.

I live in Atlanta, have had 2024 LC for 9 months. Have 6000 miles. I get about 18 in the city. Barely 20 on the hwy. I have no modifications. I am little disappointed in the mpg. I also don't drive with a heavy foot.

Getting 23..3 mpg. Not a rash driver. Driver so far 5500kms. FewMinor Mods, Added Around 75kgs to the gross wt. That seems negligble. Should not see the drop in mileage.I would never say the truck is aerodynamic in any manner or form. Being Box has some impact. Drive Mode on NORMAL and sometimes ECO. Cant complain Gasoline is cheaper than Mineral water here🤣. Toyota recommendation you have take with a pinch of salt. I have never see any Truck, Car exactly performing to the specs or test conditions. There is always a difference or drop by 1-3mpg. There are too many condition to determine it.

I actually averaged 19.1-19.5 the last couple trips, but I got 18.6 today lol
