With the rear hatch light mod, does the hatch light still come on automatically when first opening hatch or does the switch need to be manually engaged when first opening the hatch for the light to come on?

It's an on/off switch....... in the "On" position the OEM lights function normally.... they come on and stay on when the hatch is open and turn off when the hatch is closed.

In the "Off" position the OEM lights do not light regardless if the hatch is open or closed.

I normally leave it in the "Off" position and if I need it, it's a simple button push and if I forget to turn it back off, it will automatically turn off when the hatch is closed.

Pro tip: tape the edges of the screen with a piece of painter's tape folded over, before you start cutting. Saves your hands from getting poked and prevents the mesh from unraveling.

^^^ Thanks for the guidance. Used some small self tapping screws. Easy cut with aviation shears. No concerns of rodent entry in the intake... EOD, you rock the TLC world !
