Welcome to the asylum. The Toyota software is a joke, so pleased that Apple/Android play takes over as soon as I get in my car. Be happy there hasn't been an update as it will only make everything slower. There is nothing of any reliable use that I can see apart from them grabbing your data, I am considering asking Toyota disable DCM, has anyone done this or disabled it manually. Then if a Firmware update comes out I can decide if I want it based on what it does.
If I cannot rely on it 80% of the time its really not something I want to use, for example last time I tried to open the doors, I needed to upgrade my app first. This would really suck if I was out of range. If my vehicle gets stolen I don't want it back.
Very happy to keep it simple.
My use case is starting the car when I walk off of the airplane in winter. By the time I get to the car it’s nice and toasty. If you push lock twice then long hold on the third click you can remote start for free.
I agree here in the mountains it’s definitely a plus to have the remote start. It looks like the only way to keep the service is potentially just paying the $15 dollars. My use case is starting the car when I walk off of the airplane in winter. By the time I get to the car it’s nice and toasty.
Same thing happened to me with my Tahoe - I got a few years of the app connectivity free, then they wanted to charge me $15/month which just seemed like too much for the purpose.
Are there any options to subscribe in winter then cancel in the spring? I’d pay $60-75 for winter but have no value the rest of the year.I agree here in the mountains it’s definitely a plus to have the remote start. That is what I did this year. Canceled in the summer and the re-upped in November. Are there any options to subscribe in winter then cancel in the spring? I’d pay $60-75 for winter but have no value the rest of the year.
If you cancel the auto payment....... they cancel the subscription. No penalty to start it up again. On my Taco it lapsed for three years, then I heard about an OTA update..... renewed for one month got the OTA update and haven't renewed. I just use the FOB to remote start. Are there any options to subscribe in winter then cancel in the spring? I’d pay $60-75 for winter but have no value the rest of the year.
