If you were closer to me, and the government was back online for me to get an income, I’d suggest you and I get together and work this issue. I have an E-mech w/ 2+ decades of experience in electronics and electrical systems… we’d get it done with a plan for anyone else wanting
If the glass fits in the same bracket (it should per the compatibility comments listing 1958 on the Toyota parts sites) it should just be a wiring problem, which it sounds like you’re qualified to figure out. I’m lucky if I can remove trim pieces without cracking them.

My experience does not make me good at figuring out how to not break plastics, so I too routinely tug too hard or press too firmly on clips that function in reverse to logic. Luckily, we have EOD Guy for those things!

The hardest part of adding Heated mirrors would be snaking the two wires through the mirror assembly and then through the door hinge area rubber boot and the door bulkhead wiring connector. There are open pin opening in the connector but getting that connector is a monumental task. Not a hard task at all, only two tabs, but gaining access to those tabs is daunting. Once you've done it once it's really not too bad, but that first time is a bitch. You can not get a good visual line of sight as the connector rests inside the "A" pillar. It took me at least 2 hours to figure out how the thing came apart.
Once the wires are snaked through, it's just a matter of splicing into the defroster circuit.

Unfortunately no, It was for a wire that accidentally got ripped out when I did my Magnetic unlock button and I was in an extreme hurry...........LOL

Can't wait to see what you all learn. I am still hung up on Toyota not having this from the factory. I had a brand new car in 1994 I paid 10k for, and it had mirror defrosters (a stick with no air, but at least the mirrors would be clear...)
Agreed, as Stanard option, 1958s should have mirror defrosts and LC LC Prem. should have auto dimming side mirrors. Major snub.
As for GX550; if the lexus dealers weren't such snobs, the Nori Green OT actually available to purchase, and the GX550 had real buttons instead of touchscreen, id have one. Worked out for the best for me.
