Center cap removal & install, easy peasy

Is anyone running an All Black with the bronze center caps? Really tempted to grab those but would like to see how it looks.
I know this was an old post, but If youre still curious, you can shoot me a pic of your LC and I’d be happy to do a quick photoshop comp so you can see how it’ll look. I just put bronze caps on my meteor shower and I love it.

Why not simply paint them black and reinstall...??

I found it, but not at a reasonable price from a US seller on eBay. Looks like a dealer’s account and it appears out of stock at the moment, but I’m sure there’s still lots around.

I had read here some dealers in Canada have this part VIN locked, so that’s why I went eBay

Ebay

I tried to order a set of the bronze caps through my local dealer (BC)- the parts man said they were only available to order if you had a VIN for the model they were originally sold on.

Marketplace to the rescue- I got a set of four new in packages for a slight discount for my new matt black TRD wheels. I'll post up a photo next week.

Hubs on my 2025 measure a diameter of 3 3/8". The choices on ebay and amazon are weak...

In that size anyway.

I test fit the 2023 40th Anniversary bronze/black center caps in the TRD rims I purchased and they fit fine. I prefer the bronze/black to the red/black meant for those TRD wheels as it will (hopefully) clash less with my Traildust paint scheme.

Stupid question… Does anyone happen to have more photos or video showing removal of the caps?

I’m just not getting any space to insert my pry tool. I can’t get them lifted enough to look like the great pics in the OP.

I have made clumsy attempts, nearly breaking my plastic trim tool and scratching the center cap. Yet the caps remain tightly attached.

I haven’t dared to try a screwdriver, since there isn’t enough room to slip small one between the cap and wheel (much less far enough to reach a tab).

It’s frustrating when everyone else finds it so simple. Haha.

I might need to put the new ones aside until I rotate the tires and can get to the caps from the back.

If your caps are tightly fitted, removing the wheel and pushing them out from the back is likely the path of least damage.

I have one trim tool I ground down to be a thinner blade. I used that to get in and make a gap and then another trim tool to put in that gap and pop out the cap.
It also depends where you start.
You may have to try a couple places to find the space between the tabs where it’s easier to get the trim tool in there than right at one of the tabs.

Reviving an old thread that was already revived before…

Looking to see if anyone else with a 1958 installed these on their OEM wheels? I knew the ring is too small going in, but was confident because others stated it isn’t needed. Assuming it is a spacing issue because of the 58 wheel’s crazy + offset and narrow width, but the front hubs prevent flush seating of the center cap. They press in and stay seated, but they aren’t fully seated because the hub obstructs the thicker center cap from traveling back 100%. The result is a center cap I can remove with my finger nails and that can be spun with my fingertips. Anyone experienced this and have a solution?

There have been multiple cases where Toyota didn't fully seat the dust caps on the front hubs, causing interference with the centre caps on the wheels. You could try seating them with a rubber mallet to see if that gives you more room for the cap to seat fully in the wheels.

Zero issues with fit on a ‘26 LC Premium. Doesn’t help you with a FE though. Simply popped em out with a trim tool and snapped them in. Ordered online through a Toyota dealer no questions asked about the VIN.

Tried it, they’re seated fully. May need to reduce the cap material a bit so as not to throw these off going down the road.

I have the same issue with the front wheel center caps not seating completely. I haven't checked the dust caps yet but assume they're fully seated. Did you have any success removing some of the center cap material? If so, how did you do it?

Are you still at the NC coast (IBX)? I have a cousin who lives in Wanchese. He's retired now but worked at Scarborough Boatworks for years. He loves it there - will never leave!

I don't have a solution, but can confirm mine do this. I can freely spin them by hand and spin on their own while driving
You can make them all lined up drive around and all 4 wheels will be in different positions.

One option -
Had same issue on a ‘23 Sequoia we traded on our LC I ended up doing SpiderTrax 1” spacers. Expensive solution @ $300, but will say it really helped the look on that vehicle.

Anyone have pics on how the 20” premium wheels look with the Heritage Center Caps? I preferred the 18” wheels but it came with the PW.

If you’re considering a unique center cap, look on eBay & R3D is making custom Toyota center caps. Ordered a few from him. Find a listing he has, send him a note of what you’re considering & he sends you reply with a mock up.
