I checked/cleaned the left & right hybrid system’s battery air filter intakes today. They weren’t bad, but kinda surprised how much junk was on them on a 2 1/2 month old ‘26 LC Premium. We had very few rear passengers to date, but do take our 45# Aussie in the second row occasionally, & she was the culprit. The car interior is pretty clean if not sterile, as we use a fold-out dog platform in the 2nd row, but the battery air intakes had certainly picked up a lot of her dog hair & some dust.
Very easy to check the filters. They’re inside the cabin over the rear wheel well area. Just use plastic interior tool to pop off out the 3rd row cup holders & then there are 6 clips to remove air intake grills. The actual filter is attached behind the intake grill in 3 locations. I just used a hand vac to suck up the big stuff & reinstalled. Toyota says dont use air to blow it. They look like you could re-clean them over & over if you’re careful. Replacements are available, but they are different on left & right side.
Toyota PN#:
Filter #1 (Passenger side) G92DH-34010
Filter #2 (Drivers side) G92DJ-34010
Apparently if they should get really clogged there is a IP warning message that will come on saying, ‘Maintenance Required for Traction Battery Cooling Parts.’
I’m guessing some dealers may not even know these filters should be serviced every 10K. Once they do they’ll be used for a new up-sale trick. It’s easy to do if you’re inclined to spend 15 min.
