I'm hoping for a significant drop in sound! I logged 107 hours on the Tacoma sound deadening project, but I was learning along the way. Hopefully this goes much quicker...

is the sound deadening material heavy? How much weight do you think you will add to the vehicle with all the deadening material when all said and done?

The Dynamat xtreme is a CLD (constrained layer damper) & Dynaliner is a CCF (closed cell foam) layer, some people go a step further and add a MLV (mass loaded vinyl) layer. That is when things start getting really heavy...

You can get CLD layers from various brands of various thicknesses, but thicker doesn't always mean better, if the materials are subpar.

Dynamat xtreme is relatively light for how effective it is (butyl based, no longer asphalt based). I added roughly 60lbs to the Tacoma and expect to be around the same or less on the LC250.

@tacosupreme____ How are you liking the snapshades? Did you only get them for the passenger windows? Or did you get them for all the windows in the LC? Looking to get some as well, but man are they pricey...
I ended up purchasing the rear quarter Snapshades as well, because the sun got in the babyโ€™s eyes from back there. Also, got the windshield cover to qualify for free shipping on the order lol. The only ones I donโ€™t have are the front doors and rear hatch.

The cost was crazy high, but the fitment is spot on. Iโ€™d recommend them if you live by the โ€œbuy once cry onceโ€ motto. Iโ€™m sure there are cheaper ones that could do the job, but I decided to go with a more established company.

I test drove the LC250 after sound deadening the front hood, fenders & wheel arches. Iโ€™m happy with the outcome considering the coverage was minimal.

To me, it toned down the 4cyl noises under the hood (Iโ€™m not a fan of them on an suv). Next up, will be the doors and rear hatchโ€ฆ

For anyone wondering if those windshield weather strips work. I did a before & after sound test holding the mic up close to the glass, and got a 1.2 reduction in dB levels. Not much, but they do in fact cut down some wind noise.

Very cool seeing the mod priorities across builds. This one seems like a total pain in the ass but with massive functional reward.

Thank you! Yes, it is very difficult and time consuming but the end result is worth it.

Our LC250 was bought to be a family vehicle for our newborn. So, I haven't made it bigger or bulkier to get in to, and decided to focus on other mods for now.

I added a second set of brake springs to the TSB brake springs to fix the brake squeal in reverse. Did this same mod to my Tacoma and FJ40 a while back with good results.

Iโ€™m not sure what Toyota was thinking with their โ€œnewโ€ anti-rattle spring but it was for sure the cause of the squeak. I would suggest adding a second set of springs even if youโ€™ve already got the TSB work done. They will only install a set of springs on the lower pin.

Hotter weather is upon us. Finally starting to use the Snapshades windshield cover daily. Luckily it forms around the FITCAMX dash cam.

Fleet update:
Sadly been too busy and havenโ€™t driven the FJ40 much at all. Took it to get smogged in Jan and passed no problem.

Installed a magnuson supercharger along with a bunch of other parts on my Tacoma. Loving the added power!

LC250 sound deadening project is moving along nicely. I have a whole thread dedicated to that project here.
