2024 LC Premium-Stalled acceleration

I have felt the same thing but sport mode seems to resolve the issue for most part. However one other thing I will add is I seem to notice that if I literally stomp all the way down on accelerator from dead stop I notice the slight lag time. But if I apply a slight hesitance to the accelerator - meaning not stomp - but rather press the pedal quickly but through the range, the truck actually responds in acceleration better. Is this in my mind or does anyone else notice this?

I had all these problems myself. Sadly with a few toyotas, and broncos, and jeeps....Must be all these new electric, software "upgrades", cheap product material...etc. But just have Trouble with the cars, trouble with the dealerships, trouble with the manufacturers..... no responses. Then finally had it and got hold of an amazing lemon lawyer who took care of EVERYTHING. Got the car buyback, the insurance payments refunded, the registration refunded, and then they were able to get me a nice settlement for the headache the manufacturer put me through. made it so easy. In CA btw, so i know every state different, but id never go through a buyback with the manufacturer, its just a headache. and the extra money for the difficulties i went through they got me was nice!!

I was going to send him a private message, see if his firm can help me with a claim. Not for the Toyota, but a Nash with a case of noisy muffler bearings the dealer just can’t resolve.

There no need to go to that level! Just apply a liberal amount of muffler grease to those bearings and they'll quiet right down (almost like they don't exist).

I appreciate the tip, but to be honest I was thinking that law firm might be able to coax some additional $$$$$$ out of them for pain and suffering

On topic as a datapoint for the OP, I have never once experienced anything close to what you’ve described. 2025 1958 w/ 13.5k miles.

Yes, the few very dangerous situations that it caused me I floored it thinking it was a good move to clear out of the way and vehicle just stalled and didn't want to move, I haven't really tried to reproduce it but I'm very careful about putting myself in situations like that now as I know the car may behave in a manner that's not predictable.

It's not turbo lag the transmission is slipping, perhaps during the handoff from traction to gas motor. Toyota told me they're expecting a "shift issue" software patch in late spring early summer. That's a long time for these harsh shifts to add wear and tear and subtract confidence. Yes manual or sport mode alleviates it but do you really want to deal with workarounds on your new $70K car?

Yes, the few very dangerous situations that it caused me I floored it thinking it was a good move to clear out of the way and vehicle just stalled and didn't want to move, I haven't really tried to reproduce it but I'm very careful about putting myself in situations like that now as I know the car may behave in a manner that's not predictable.

There is a slight delay in acceleration if you try to accelerate rapidly from a dead stop while engine is off.

I suspect it is related to how the clutch between the the engine and electric motor behaves when the engine is off. Under this condition, electric motor needs to both propel the vehicle and crank the engine.

The worst type of delay I have experienced is if you try to accelerate rapidly from a dead stop at the moment ECU turns off the engine. Like I roll to a stop sign and just as I am about to slam it, ECU switches to electric. In this case it waits for the engine to drop to zero rpm before recranking it. It is still less than a second in delay, but is more noticeable.

My engine was/is running. I typically put it in tow/haul mode otherwise my engine is always hunting gears or lugging the engine where I live there's plenty of hills/elevation change.

Felt like a CVT slipping... especially when transitioning from/to stop up to about 25 MPH... moreso on slowing down. I could do all the tricks mentioned here (manual mode, sport mode, haul mode) to decrease the issue but I'm not gonna do that for the rest of the car's life. 12,000 miles. Service said their was metal shavings in the fluid.

The v35a is known for this issue. Covered by T-SB-0032-26 for the Tundra, but it’s the same drivetrain for the GX550.
