18" Tacoma TRD Wheels

I have AT tires on my soon to be traded 2012 4runner Trail edition. In this vehicle they are loud (Falken Wildpeak A/T). I have read that some of the newer A/T maybe be a bit quieter and not hit the gas mileage as much.
I have 275/70/18 General Grabber A/T X in SL load on my LC right now and they are louder than I would like but I don't mind it. Someone else could find the same tire intolerable. I didn't have a lot of choices in this size in the SL load and the Nitto Terra Grappler3 tires hadn't been released yet when I purchased my truck. I'm hoping that tire manufacturers will start giving us more variety in the 18" wheel because I don't know if I want to step to a 17" wheel even though there are way more options for tire sizes. I'm also wondering if I want to go with a JAOS +55 offset wheel that is just 5mm wider than the stock FE wheel. I find the steering is very different with the TRD wheel offset. I'm just going to drive it as is until I need new tires and hopefully there will be more options by then. My profile pic shows the FALKEN AT4W in 285/65/18 in SL load but I switched to the 275/70.

I have these wheels and will agree that the offset is perfect for the land cruiser. I ended up going with 285/70r18 ko3 tires and I absolutely love this setup. The stock lugs fit but I ended up ordering the black lugs and they look much better with those wheels.View attachment 27526View attachment 27527
@JoeyKrck - love this look! I have a 2025 underground base coming shortly. Just ordered these TRD Pro wheels since the figment is perfect for me. Debating on 285/70R18 vs 275/70R18. I know you went with the 285/70R18. Is there a lift on yours in these photos?

@JTOren just a word of warning the 285/70/18 tire will not fit in the spare tire location. You'll need another way to carry your 5th wheel if that is a concern for you. Some have put the 275/70/18 tire in the spare and don't do the 5 tire rotation. Just something to ponder.

I have not noticed a difference vs. the 20" wheels. Steering seems fine.
I guess saying "very different" was a bit of an exaggeration. It does not turn the same as the stock offset though. Not a problem at all but I've noticed a difference.

@JoeyKrck - Good to know. Thanks for the heads up! Do you have a lift installed in those photos?

How are you liking the KO3s on the road? These dang tires seem to be the most polarizing things in the world. Some people swear they are the most comfortable thing ever.... the next guy will say they are loud and vibrate on the freeway.

I struggled to find these (PTR56-35242-F1) but eventually split the order - 3 coming from Elmhurst, Illinois and 2 coming from Olathe, Kansas. Iโ€™m in NJ and. at least online, no dealers had them.
That said Olathe Toyota just said the order was processed, they havenโ€™t shipped yet so fingers crossed.
Pricing was the same ~$220 a piece

I plan to put 275/70R18 Toyo Open Country III EVs on them.

For those that did a wheel swap, did you just get the tire shop to switch the TPMS over?
Did you ever get the EVs? Looking for any feedback on them since I would love the AT3s in an SL.

no lift, all stock suspension. No rubbing at all.

Only have 2000 miles on them but so far I am loving them. I honestly canโ€™t tell a difference in noise between the stock 20 inch tires and these but I also donโ€™t have the best hearing lol. No vibration, handles way better with the 10 ply tire.

Awesome! Very good know. This will be a personal preference question, but do you have any regrets going with the 285/70R18 versus a 275/70R18? Iโ€™ll have the same wheel as you, but will be adding a 2.5 inch lift. Spare tire situation is not that big of a deal for me.

Yes - Iโ€™ve got about 1500 miles on them, look great, a bit of drone at 45mph and above, no impact to mpg.

The wheels push the setup out a little bit so the visual is nice as the tires pop out more, but still within the fenders and flaps.

Any info on this set of wheels. Buddy of mine took them off his 2025 Tacoma. Figure they would look sweet on the LC but wasnโ€™t looking for gross offset.

The 2025 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-Road wheels have a +55 mm offset. This offset is for the 7.5-inch wide wheels that come standard on the TRD Off-Road trim.

Which is great if you are not looking for any poke. I have the TRD OffRoad wheels on mine with 34/10.5R17 Toyo AT3s and I am very happy with them. +50 offset would be perfect like the GX550 Overtrail wheels but the +55 offset is great because the inner side wall distance to control arm with the 285 metric width tire is the exact same as the 275 with the stock FE wheel so no worries about scrub. Here is what the +55 looks like with the 34/10.5R17 tires.

Sorry man, to dumb it down, I could run these wheels with 265/70/18 tires and not have any issue with rub?

Will the Tacoma TRD wheels fit the spare tire chain mount under the trunk?
It will fit depending on the tire size you run on your rig. If you are going to use the 265/70R18 tire that is stock size and will fit as intended. I have run 285/65R18 and they fit but the width makes the tire sit lower. People have run 275/70R18 and they work as well just barely but anything bigger will sit wonky.
I really wish Toyota hadn't made the LC a hatchback like the 4Runner. I liked the barn door with tire carrier on the back not underneath. Hell, even the old Rav4's had a tire carrier on the back door. Not sure what they were thinking with that one.
