Windshield Replacement Backordered Indefinitely

Any updates on windshield availability across the board? I'm on rock chip number three and the latest one just had a nice 3" crack shoot out of it... bummer. First two were filled by Safelite and are hard to see. The newest is a pretty big ding and I think will require a new windshield.

Four months later, and my brand new Toyota windshield finally arrived. What helped me jump the line was expediting my request to Toyota and not just Safelite. And then, from there, I had Toyota mark it as "extremely urgent." Sure enough, my replacement then arrived in 5 days.

Thanks. Will keep that strategy in mind.

Add me to the cracked club. I didn't even hear an impact. Walked out up to a 4-inch crack and getting worse. The stone just caught the top of the windshield. Damn... With the angle of this windshield, I got to wondering if there was anything else that could help protect it.

Has anyone ever tried Shatter-X? I very skeptical.

The plastic coverings all seem like garbage, and then there's the lack of testing.
Add me too! 1st crack the first week I had the brand new 2024 Land Cruiser. Have been waiting for the new windshield for 4 months already and have gotten a 2nd crack since then! I honestly think these windshields are DEFECTIVE!!!! I have a case thru Toyota and have asked for compensation if they can’t make this right. There are other issues too. Getting less than 20 miles per gallon and only 300 per fill up with supposed 17.9 gallon tank. I am hoping the dealership I leased it from will help when I take it in for service this week but not very optimistic.

Was told by the local auto glass place today that the windshields are still on backorder. I wonder if there will be a non-OEM alternative soon. Quote I got was $1,500 installed/calibrated for a '58 without the HUD.

Add me to the list. 2024 LC FE and got a chip in windshield a week ago which is not 8 inch long crack. Toyota Dealership not sure when they can get a replacement. They say their windshield guy is great and does the recalibration. In the meantime I checked with Safelite who quoted $1700. However, I feel better working thru the Toyota dealer. Anyone used Safelite? Is there a problem with this LC windshield glass?

I got one within a week, dealer snagged it from the inbounds at the Houston port. Landers Toyota NWA (Rogers, AR). Sometimes it doesn’t pay off though, I just got a chip in the new windshield right in the driver field of view. Got it plugged today. Maybe a delay is not a bad thing given how the angle of the windshield is conducive to cracks and chips.
You're a local. Is there no aftermarket for LC windshields yet? Does price vary between 1958 and LCP in regard to the tech in the glass? Asking for a friend.

Once I replace the windshield is there any "clear coat" that will provide protection from this happening again?

My dealer didn't seem at all interested in replacing my windshield once I told him I had full coverage on it. I'm thinking insurance really slims down their profit margin they charge. Very pleased with Safelite once I waited 4 months for it to arrive.

Thanks for this info, good to know. We have full windshield replacement coverage at no deductible as well.

Update: seemed to make some headway calling Toyota corporate. They created a case number and promised they would rush me to the front of the line. Fingers crossed.
When you called corporate, who did you call or do you have a number. Was in a wreck with my LC at 130 miles and need a piece that is also listed as back ordered indefinitely. I would live to call and plead my case

Welcome to the asylum 1samhol.

My dealer has placed an order for a replacement windshield. I don't expect it for months. Just hoping the crack doesn't grow.

I have a huge crack in my 2024 Land Cruiser windshield. Called all the local auto glass shops (and my dealer), and they all told me no ETA on when a replacement windshield may become available. Super frustrating. Anything I can do on my end to expedite this? Thank you!
Someone broke into my LC and its taking almost a month to get my rear passenger side window replaced

I had the XPEL Windshield Protection Film installed about a month ago. In the rain and snow it performed well, as if there was nothing on the windshield.

Dead bugs is another story. Took a 150mi round trip journey to Sacramento and back, killed a lot of bugs during my journey. I've had the toughest time trying to get them all cleaned off of the XPEL product. Washed the car with a high pressure washer, used a brush with soap, cleaned it several times with Invisible Glass - I got most of it off but there are a few stubborn ones that won't go away. I feel like it'll be there forever. The XPEL product reminds me of the old Invisible Shield product for phones back in the days that was a thick film that went on top of your screen. When they got a nasty stain on them, it wouldn't go away. Last idea I need to try is to take a clay bar to it.

As a follow-up to your question, I just called Toyota corporate and had them create a case and reference number for me. But it wasn't until I voiced my displeasure and asked about how I go about returning my vehicle that I saw much movement and got my case expedited. So maybe that's the trick?

Thanks. Actually as soon as they created a case for me- I wrote back that they need to buy my vehicle back so I can buy another one if they are going to have a model on the road for 10 or 11 months with no parts to support the hundreds of thousands that they have sold. I am going to keep pushing them and see what might happen.
