I’ve had my LC since June and just got a chip in the windshield. This is a week after getting the windshield completely replaced due to a crack that immediately ran 8”. Needless to say I am not very happy with the quality of the windshields. I’m hoping I can get it plugged before it runs but it’s Sunday and nothing is open. Worst part is the chip is driver side field of vision.

There’s definitely a quality issue. Has anyone had success with Toyota owning up to the poor quality?

What convince you that there is a quality issue? Because it breaks on yours?

I think your definition of “quality” is probably very different from most people’s understanding.

I can confirm jeep windshields are more flat than the LC. I went through several windshields with my jeeps. Only upside is, the windshields other than OEM were not too bad on price. I cant imagine what an LC windshield will cost

Already replaced mine. It was around $2500 give or take. But it doesn’t matter because unless you are an idiot you will have insurance to cover this and the actual cost of replacement will depend on your deductible.

I paid for $1000 so that was how much damage it caused to my purse.

I have already filled a chip from the first 50 miles on my '58 with this kit:

It's not perfect but it has held up.

My dealer offered an extra windshield insurance at a reasonable extra cost...so I bought it.
My auto insurance company has dropped its $50 chip repair coverage.
I have not driven to my property in my LC yet, which is on a rock hauler highway route in N Texas.
FYI - My Ram 1500 has had 3 windshields in 3 years, all while driving the same route.
I think I am as prepared as I can be for the eventual incident.
Has anyone installed an aftermarket hood deflector? Do they work?

have you tried lifting your truck to mitigate this issue? lifting an additional 2 inches will reduce the probability of getting a windshield crack by 70%

Yes, and no way would it deflect a rock bigger than a pea unless the rock hit the deflector directly.

and instead of getting hit on the windshield these debris will just hit your radiator instead.

BTW my windshield was smashed by the 18-wheeler passing me at 100 mph in snow. Nothing can protect that other than driving at 120 mph on that frozen highway… I decided that I’d rather live with a cracked windshield than dead with a perfect windshield.

It is indeed, had a couple of the civ bomb techs that responded to that incident tell me some very interesting stories.............
