Hey y’all, just got home from a week long trip through Palo Duro Canyon, Caprock Canyon (Texas Panhandle), and Fort Davis (West Texas). Lotta miles and hauled a small overland trailer (built not bought) that was a total of about 1,000lbs. Stayed at Merus off road park and drove the green trails no problem. They were just the right difficulty without being destructive. Rolling on tiny ā€˜58 stock tires and did not air down because needed every bit of ground clearance. But the LC did freaking great. Drug the crap out of the mudflaps on every drop, put some scrapes on underside of the back bumper, but didn’t ever bottom out and never even hit a slider. Shit half of that was prob from the weight of gear in the back and the trailer. Yes, wheeled all with trailer attached too. Yes, better tires would have been useful but the stock ones didn’t do bad at all. The car is a mountain goat. On the loooong highway miles it sailed right along and didn’t miss a beat. Found myself looking at the fuel gauge more than the scenery and stopping quite often. 15mpg average with trailer and going 75 everywhere. I really don’t like the way they did the fuel gauge. Not accurate in real time. Oh, I even slept in the back of the car one night during bad rain. I’m 5’10ā€ and used my duffel bag and a pelican med case to make the floor flat. Cuddled w a 50qt fridge in back. Wasn’t spacious but I slept fine. Yes, I do miss the shit out of my ā€˜18 4Runner that literally was the best car ever. But life goes on. Maybe I’ll say the same of this one a few years from now. No mods needed, will get some AT tires soon and the Toyota oem skid plates but keeping her stock as I can. Remember kids, it’s allll about the line and tire placement. And know your limits. Will never be a Sasquatch bronco or Rubicon. But it’ll get ya there and back.

Spent my birthday yesterday at jury duty. So I took the long way home and brought the vehicle its first couple creek crossings/off roading. Not difficult by any means but it’s finally dirty haha.

Now treating myself to some good bbq.

After the Wescott lift was installed i added the TRD Tacoma Wheels 40 offset with Falken Wildpeak AT4W 35x11.50r18 load range c tires.
No rubbing, I had removed the crash bars but not sure if I really needed to.
I needed a lift combination that would leave me under 80" in overall height to be able to fit into my parking garage at work. Overall height came in at 79".

Tires look great. Just got my LC in white as well. What tires are those?

I installed a Victory4x4 engine skid plate today. Transmission and T-case coming later. First observation… it’s in two pieces…??? They apparently changed the design and didn’t update ANY picture or description on their website so I was a bit confused when it arrived… the ā€œmanualā€ is for a Tacoma and also one piece… With that said I will be making a full weight up for anyone to use soon. I’m still happy with the purchase and like the ideas of 2 pieces for a modular service approach if needed. The powder coating and more importantly the weld quality is top notch. I had a few things to overcome but I like projects.

Looks like that would make it easier to drop the rear part of the plate if needed?
