What are the reasons you replace 18” OEM LCFE or LCLC wheels?

RRW RR7 17x8.5 +25 offset, wrapped in a BFG k03 285/70/17
I was very skeptical of the +25 offset, but it turned out perfect for me.

Nice. I still have stock 18" wheels, but replaced tires with BFG KM3 285/75/18. No lift, no rubbing. I have my other vehicles lifted (2005 Taco and 2008 Taco) and they just don't ride the same.

My last lift was my 2015 Taco TRD Pro… and it ruined the vehicle for me. I lost so much money going back down to stock + leveled front just to love that truck again. I’ll personally never lift again, and the LC’s natural rake is so subtle I don’t want to level it either.

I got rid of them because they stick out so much, and would have ended up with rock scrapes all over them, for no good reason. Replaced with the 18" Tacoma TRD wheel which are more concave than convex. Sold the OEMs for $400, bought the TRDs for $800, a good trade.

With this wheel spacers ( great reputation American made), it made my 60-65mm OEM offset becoming 35mm which perfect stand for me. ( correct: for my rig, not for me )
Rule: when you lifted your rig higher, you need wider stand. It not for a look, but for balance

Interesting you say this. I just got inside from messing with the adjustable Dobinsons MRRs. So many adjustments you can make on these things. I really love the lift and at this time would not go back to stock. I will say it is different. Not necessarily bad, just different. It still drives very well and only slightly more stiff than stock - and could be the way I have adjusted. Maybe when I am truly old I will have stock parts put back on so I can get in and out more easily.

It was over $5k in dakar and OME. It made it zero fun to drive unless clearing an obstacle. Just not my style.

I got no issues with other people lifting their rigs… just ain’t me no more lol

2024 1958 owner here. What did you end up going with? Wheel type, size, etc..

Mine runs 18-inch forged wheels with +36, wrapped in 265/70R18 tires.

Mine came with 20's, and I have no real issue with either 18's or 17's. Have had both on LC's before. Never saw a lot of difference.

Looking at both the AEV and Method's.

Wouldn't min finding a set of take off FE's or Tacoma TRD's. Plan to run pizza cutters.

I saw Icon wheels and some after market ones everywhere.
My question: why did many people have mostly Icon wheels to replace their 18” OEM wheels, especially, great design and performance wheels equipped for LCFE and LCLC?

In the UK my stock wheels were 20", this limits your off road tyre choice unless you go for a lift and trimming, so I bought Evo Corse DakarZero 8.5 x 18" +40 wheels paired with Falken WildPeak AT 265/65/R18. May switch to larger tyres at some point but with the 18" I have more options.

Missed out on a set of Tundra BBS forged wheels. They were advertised for months while I was in Australia, sold 2 days before I returned. In the end landed on a take off set of flat black Tacoma wheels (PTR56-35242-F1) and tyres with only 300 miles on them for $1000. Just sold the tyres for $400 and mounted Falken Wildpeak A/T3s 265/70x18". Hasn't affected mileage, speedo reads perfectly accurate now as with standard 1958 wheels and tyres read 2-3mph over. Handling wise perhaps a little more "squirrely" running 34lbs of pressure.
