Welcome from a fellow Washington DC Land Cruiser owner. I’m on Capitol Hill and have had mine for almost 2 years now. Best vehicle I’ve ever had, these things are great even for city driving. Highlight for me so far was driving down to Oxford to see Washington State play Ole Miss last year, and using the inverter to brew a Nespresso when needed on the trip.

One word of caution, there is an organized car theft ring targeting mostly LC’s and Defenders in the DMV area. A friend of mine had his LC stolen a couple of months ago but was able to recover it quickly because he had an Apple Air Tag hidden in the vehicle. So I have an Air Tag stashed in mine now as well.

But again welcome, you’re going to love the LC.

Your friend's experience validates my decision to leave mine in the garage at the office as I am headed out of town for a few days. Even if I had to walk home from the Metro in the rain. That's good information, thank you!

That's correct! Yes, near Eastern Market and I remember talking to you as well. My friend with the stolen LC said law enforcement was putting a full press on the auto theft guys so hopefully the situation has gotten better. While he got his vehicle back , they did a fair amount of immediate damage trying to make it untraceable. Yes, see you around!

That's the thing with the Land Cruiser (that I didn't see coming when I bought one). These vehicles inspire conversation when you park somewhere, and it is not unusual to come back to your vehicle and finding someone checking it out. It sounds like Gasherbrum was gracious in that situation and encouraged OP to become part of the Land Cruiser family.

I have been loving ours. I haven't had opportunity to test it out off road yet, but awesome vehicle so far. I have been driving AWD, 4WD vehicles for the last 26 years with the main goal being to have something that will get me to work and back no matter what Mother Nature might scheme up. Half of the vehicles I've had in that period have gone off road to play, but the Land Cruiser may be the best of the bunch even for on road use- comfortable, quick, agile with good sight lines. I would like a few more inches of ground clearance, but that can be changed easily enough.

Agreed! I'm the guy who buys things for that 1% scenario. Like you, I want to know that I'm getting home no matter what. I'm the guy everyone else relies on. We had a crazy ice storm here probably 10 or so years ago and I was teaching a class at night. When we came out it was like a hellscape. Just down from the school was a hill leading up to the highway and cars were just left there because they couldn't move. I drove an old lady from the class home and then got my self home. The Jeep was unbelievable. It took me 6 hours because of everyone else and the abandoned cars but I made it.

My Jeep was off-road a bunch of times many years ago. Mostly fire roads in the Shenandoahs and Bald Eagle State Park. Don't know if I'll do the same with my LC.
