My 2024 LCLC was stolen out of my driveway last night. The window was broken to access, and I have no idea how they started it because I have both fobs indoors in secure locations that cannot be scanned.

Toyota is working with the police to track it right now.

Sorry to hear that. These vehicles can still be stolen without the key, but they would need to break a window or cut into the body to access the electronics. I think that would make some noise.

Definitely broke the window, but it didn't wake anyone, I'm afraid.

That blows so hard OP, Iโ€™m sorry mate. They probably broke the window to get inside and the cut through the plastic on the rear hatch to get to the module.

Very sorry to hear, keep my fobs in an RFID blocker box to prevent scanning .Should we all be getting after market tracker devices vs relying on Toyota to find our rides? Living near foreign border makes it easy for thieves to avoid the law.

The RCMP have located it thanks to Toyota tracking. They must not have been smart enough to disable it. They had abandoned it at the last shown parked location. Now to see what other damage besides the broken window has been done.

I do the same. Fobs are always in a RFID-proof metal box when not on me. I don't think they cloned my fobs, they got it started some other way.

Fingers crossed itโ€™s not trashed! The usual TTP is to stash it in a temporary spot until itโ€™s no longer as โ€œhot,โ€ then after a few days when they feel confident they are undetected, they retrieve it.

I too am very sorry to hear that happened to you.

The two main methods are amplifying signal from your fobs (which actually go to sleep and stop providing a signal to amplify after a short time in later Toyota smart keys) or accessing the OBDII port directly (or a module connected to the OBDII network). Once they have access, there are tools they use to add an authorized key or simulate one so they can drive away.

Most definitely used the OBDII port. Will be looking at additional security options once I get it back. Things like ODBII locks, immobilzers, etc.
