Sirius XM sale through June 30

They have an offer going on right now for $4/month for a year for all access plan (every channel they have) plus a free wireless speaker( I am sure it’s junk), but a pretty good deal if you like SXM. My free trial was up July 7, so I had my subscription start then.

I have Spotify and Apple Music but sometimes I like someone else to play the tunes and hear things I don’t have on my lists. At $4, I am all in.

Cancelling is such a pita. But they offered me 1$ per month for year. Still cancelled just on the principle that I had to call to cancel.

XM survives on users forgetting they have it and charging annually.

I always go straight in and mark on phone calendar one year out with reminder and cancel or renegotiate a couple days before it expires.

The audio quality is abysmal on SXM - their files are massively compressed. You can pretty easily recreate the “DJ” experience with Spotify and their streaming competitors.

Don’t feel pressured by the “limited time” sale. You can always call SXM and tell the price you’d be willing to sign up for, and you might be shocked how low they will go once they have you on the phone and they think you’re going to hang up.

It's worth $5. Yeah, they play too much Effing Elvis Costello but it's nice to just turn the radio on and not think about it.

Like Tim suggested, just set a reminder to renew. It's annoying but not nearly as much as the $20 monthly they try to charge if you miss the expiration.

When I've wanted to cancel in the past, I just told them I sold the vehicle. Canceled, no problem.

*I also live in an area with spotty cell reception, so spotify, pandora, etc. aren't really a consistent option.

I can drive 5 minutes from my house and there's no cell service (mountains/canyons). All the mentioned downsides are also true, but radio from space is kinda nice.

I believe you, but what am I doing wrong then? Spotify and Apple Music (via CarPlay) both sound like hot garbage in my rig, but SXM kicks ass (at least by comparison). Would love to get rid of SXM

If you’re happy with what you’re hearing then you are definitely not doing anything wrong!

You’re going to get compression degradation from wireless CarPlay also - so if your ears are enjoying the SXM more, then that may be the best solution for you!

At least get a discount though - nobody should ever need to pay more than a small fraction of their “full” price.

I’ve had XM on my vehicles since they started..

when raise their prices I call in once a year and lower it everytime . I’ve paid $6 a month over the last… 20+ years. Terrestrial radio sucks and I get tired of playlists… it was weird when they merged with Sirius

~~I love SXM!~~ I love 2 channels on SXM and for that reason I cancelled. Not worth the money. Plus when I called to renew at the same 'deal' price I had, they refused so I cancelled. Then they called back a couple weeks later with that deal but I declined out of principle.

My USB stick and free Spotify and Amazon Music suffice.

Don't pay more than $5-6 per month for Sirius... Just mark your calendar every year your when your subscription is supposed to "renew" at $24.99 or whatever, then call them to cancel. Or use the chat on their website. Tell them it's too much. They might try to get you to accept $11.99 or something, but don't. $5 is do-able.

They operate on the "pay something" model for the most part.

I just did it for my wife's car and it took 7 minutes. The monthly price for that vehicle is now $4.93 plus taxes.

7 minutes to save $240 per year is a good return on your time.

Yeah I'll keep it as long as I can keep the price under $5, I live out in the sticks and 3/4 of my commute to and from work has zero cell reception so my options normally are terrestrial radio, xm, or silence.

I really like the dark tower series. That series connects all of Stephen King‘s books together. The movie didn’t do it any justice at all. They need to do a movie for each book.

I've only read the gunslinger of that series. The movie was terrible. I like in 11-22-63 the guy goes to Derry and unknowingly meets some of the kids from it.
