Rust proofing?

A local place in Maryland used to offer Fluid Film but now does a ceramic based undercoating they claim lasts much longer- like 4-6 years of protection. Also 4x more expensive than fluid film

Anyone have experience with such a product ?

I don’t but if it’s 4x the cost of fluid film and they claim it will last 4-6 years. IMO might as well stick to doing fluid film yourself.

In my experience, there are exactly two routes that work and many that don't.

Good

• Lanolin based oil sprays (Wool wax, fluid film, etc.)
• Cosmoline

Bad

• Anything rubber based
• Ziebart
• Anything fully permanent

Cosmoline is what they spray on military tanks, on certain parts of German cars, etc. and it's more permanent than the oil based sprays. It will come off if you need it to but requires brake cleaner or acetone, ie does not require a yearly re-application. Either way you go, you'll need to coat the inside of the frame as this is possibly even more important than the outside. You can get extended hoses with 360 deg nozzles on eBay.
