Roof racks vs load bars - which is better for my needs?

Is there any noticeable wind noise?
Not that bothers me (meaning I don't notice it if there is). But, anything you put up there is subject to wind noise, so I don't know if wind noise would be a deterring factor. To eliminate the possibility, put nothing up there.

Decided to run only 3 of the 5 bars

What is your experience after installing them? How difficult? What is the noise level in comparison? Would you buy them again!
Barely got them installed late this evening. I drove some city streets @ 35mph, no noticeable wind noise yet.
I’ll hit the highway this weekend (I do live in a windy area)

Difficulty: easy for me, I work in Manufacturing R&D I operate a small machine shop for prototyping, end-mill etc. I believe the drilling will be challenging for some. If you know how to use a Drill Center Punch /hand drill and Rev Nut Tool you will be good.

NOTE:
*I modified the mounting setup,
I swapped out the SAE rev-nuts for 6mm rev nuts the rail mounting bolts are 6mx20 now. F-king hate installing SAE bolts on my Metric Japanese cars.

This Rago setup is very stealthy, you only see the crossbars at certain angles. I really like the looks. I put a prinsu on my 80 series and it looked great , however I’m just over the whole “overlander” look it’s played out (perhaps I just got old)

CalOkie - Sure appreciate the review & nice job on the install. Hope to hear more after your highway use.

I was surprised in your pics how good the Rago kit works on lowering the crossbar closer to the roof (hopefully out of some of the wind stream), totally agree with your point about being stealthy, & they just look really good. I was measuring this morning & the Rago crossbar appears in the middle of the roof to be around 3” lower in the wind steam than a OE crossbar. Getting the crossbar close to the roof in the low pressure area gives me hope. With your LC having a sunroof you’ll know quick at highway speeds if these are quieter.

The noisy OE Premium crossbar (that so many pull off) are difficult to use for anything other than using straps. If the Rago system with its flat design is quiet, it should become a no-brainer as a factory accessory. By the way, good luck w/ that rev-nut OCD!
Thank you again for the post.

Yep no problem
Yea the Rego 1st bar is actually behind the sunroof so even better than most roof racks.
I’m hoping to modify a Star-link mini mount to attach to the Rego or maybe just go magnetic and possibly a retractable GMRS or HAM antenna

Will also get a quote from a local machine shop for aluminum crossbar option to save weight

How do these compare with the cross bars noise wise? The cross bars definitely have a “tone” to them. Are these better, worse or about the same?
The crossbars Lao really hurt mileage. I picked up a couple mpg when I removed them.
