Road Force Numbers — What Are You Driving With?

What road force variation (RFV) numbers are you guys getting after balancing with LT tires and particularly with BFG KO3s?

I am running BFG KO3s 275/70R18. My final optimized numbers are:

• LF: 16 lb
• RF: 16 lb
• LR: 18 lb
• RR: 24 lb
• Spare: 35 lb

The ride on seems smooth and I am happy with the tires. I am planning to include the spare in a 5-tire rotation, so I’m especially interested in whether others would rotate a 35 lb RFV spare into regular use. I am contemplating replacing that tire, but will likely try it first to understand the impact. The tire shop told me 35lb is the upper acceptable limit and BFG will not accept a return.

What RFV numbers are you driving with, and do you notice any vibration?

Where did you get the tires from? 35 lbs is technically acceptable if it's an LT tire but with default settings that's still usually in the 'yellow'. Where did you get the tires from? If somewhere like TireRack, I would personally push to get the 35 lb one replaced as you will almost certainly feel a vibration with that much runout. All the others are acceptable for LT tires.

Generally I've been happy with the results if all 4 are under 20 but I wouldn't sweat one rear being at 24 if it feels smooth. I've had sets that wouldn't get below 30 lbs and could always feel vibrations. I've had several sets of Toyos produce single digits on all 4 corners and that's what I run every time now.

I had never heard of RFV until reading this post. Is this commonly known?
Also, do the main tire installation companies run these tests when we purchase a set of tires and have them installed?
