Quick question about some loose trim / panel movement on the LC250

Hey guys, I have a few questions about some trim pieces on my LC250 and wanted to compare with other owners.


I noticed a little movement/play in the following areas when pressing them by hand:

1. Front fog light trim/bezel
2. Black A-pillar exterior trim
3. Black D-pillar exterior trim
4. Rear hatch glass trim/molding
5. All four interior plastic door panels, especially near the upper corner by the window

None of these parts are falling off, and the panel gaps look normal. They just don’t feel completely solid when pressed, and there is a small amount of play.


I marked all the areas in the videos.


If anyone has a minute, could you check the same spots on your LC250 / Prado 250 and let me know if yours are similar?


I’m mainly trying to figure out whether this is normal factory fitment or if some of these trim pieces may need to be checked.

Welcome to the forum. I’m not having any of the trim issues you’re describing. This may be the difference between Chinese-market Land Cruisers which are manufactured in China, compared to the Land Cruisers for the rest of the world, which are all manufactured at Toyota’s plants in Japan.

I went out to mine and did everything you did.

1) fog surround trim - mine wiggles, but it doesn’t rattle
2) A pillar trim strip - mine does the same thing as your’s. Mine is flat black.
3) D-pillar trim strip - mine does the same thing. Flat black on mine.
4) Hatch glass vertical trim pieces - mine do the same as your’s. Flat black on mine.
5/6) Interior trim - mine is much more snug than what you are showing.

*** of all of these things, only #3 makes any sound when messing with it.

Thanks a lot for checking all of these for me. That’s really helpful. Sounds like the exterior trim movement is pretty normal, but my interior door panels may be a little looser than yours. Really appreciate you taking the time!

I'm unsure about the installation methods for your variant/model. However if you want to tighten up the trim panel fitment, you can source some thin neoprene washers and slip them over the plastic fasteners as a flexible spacer and install the trim panels. It appears the US variant has neoprene under every single plastic fastener.
