Has anyone done a delete of the wireless charger pad from the Premium package? I saw the interior of a 1958 and I’d rather have the storage space since I never use the wireless pad.

I’m wondering, is it as simple as ordering the plastic trim parts from the 1958?

I may be confused but is there a physical difference?
There may not be a physical difference, but I'd be hesitant to store anything conductive in that spot that wasn't a device capable to using the wireless charging. I've heard anecdotal reports of folks "bricking" non-phone devices (e.g. bluetooth headphones) after placing them on the charger for a prolonged periods.

There's gotta be a fuse for it right? Or something in the wiring diagram to snip snip!
This might be the best solution. I wonder if it has its own fuse or just taps power from the rest of the dash?

Should be an easy mod as the Pad is an add-on accessory and has a connector. I actually use it every time my LC is driven, so not high on my priority list. But I wish I could turn it off when my phone is at full charge.

It’s inductive charging, so anything non-metallic is of no concern. I know that’s not what you’re looking for really, but it’s additive to the conversation as a whole.

Edit: Just to close the loop on what I mean (pun intended). The charger has to have a phone or conductive item to close the circuitry and create a magnetic field (current). Absent of this, it is just an open circuit and no risk.

Sorry for the double reply, just thought of what I would do in your shoes.

Cut a piece of rubber insulation matting to fit. At the potential current draw of a Qi charger, the material could be thin and easily trimmed cleanly.

Then you get to keep the charger for unforeseen needs and resale…

I was hoping you'd have a wiring diagram for it. I think I'd unplug mine as my iPhone gets stupid hot so i generally use a short USB-C cable.

I've seen some rubber mats for the area on Amazon/StickerFab/etc. It'd be nice to toss my wallet up there but I don't want to zap my credit cards

The exact same reason, I will eventually put in a on/off switch! I tend to resource connectors and pins and make break out harnesses, so I don't have to cut OEM wiring (which can be very time consuming). It is on my to-do list, but kind of at the bottom.......LOL

Disconnecting the wireless charger is deadly simple if that is what you want, you just need to take apart the center console which is very simple and how-to available in the forum in the trim removal thread. But as somebody else suggested, it'd be even easier to just cut a rubber mat to fit the area. You might have to experiment with material thickness but it will work. I know because the plastic phone protector my wife chose for her phone prevents the charger from working...

This is a great idea. There’s a blank button just above that area next to the camera button. It’d be cool if that were an on/off switch

2020 Tacoma actually has a Qi switch that'll fit.

This is great!! Is this a CAN BUS switch or normal on / off?
I assume it's CAN but I've never looked it up on the Taco. CH 4X4 sells Toyota "cube" sized switches. My plan when I do the mod, is a simple (normal) switch that'll interrupt the pwr coming from the ECU to the pad (with a breakout harness) with a relay. I'll just order a custom switch from CH4X4 with the Qi graphics (it's a little more expensive but they'll put whatever graphic on the switch face).

Woohoo! Someone mentioned my trim removal post (mostly populated with @EOD Guy posts)! 😊

I'm glad folks are getting some good use out of it.
