Oil filters for 2025 LC 1958

I am using the OEM Toyota filters.

Much like oil threads, you can do a whole bunch of reading on what filter is best but consensus is elusive. It doesn't help that supply chains and plant closures have popular brands offshoring to the lowest bidder today when that wasn't the case months back...what results is that a filter brand/model that was once top quality is now made to the bare minimum but looks identical until you cut the filters open and examine the internals.

Until one of the manufacturers wants to step up and continue producing a top quality oil filter long term with no bait and switch behind the scenes, I'll stick with the OEM filters.

Look into video content by "The Car Care Nut," "The Motor Oil Geek" (Lake Speed), and online forum content at "BobIsTheOilGuy" for all the reading and listening you can handle on the subject.
Well said!

I prefer doing as much maintenance as possible on my 2025 LC 1958 myself. I have been using the Toyota OEM oil filter 90915-YZZN1 at oil/filter changes but am wondering if an after-market filter might offer better filtration, i.e. K & N, Purolator? What are you DIYers using?
Are you keeping a record of all your DIY work? Ahmed the Car Care Nut recommends that for the purpose of potential warranty matters.

OEM - got a bunch during the 25% off all Toyota parts/accessories sale that Toyota ran back around November. Also have seen them at Walmart for like $7/$8. Most auto parts places have them as well but they tend to be more expensive.
That's what I did and they ended up being cheaper than any quality filter on the market.

Absolutely! Includes all receipts and log with dates , mileage and what maintenance was done.

Good for you. We have two other cars (120K and 236K miles and should have been doing this. But I will for sure with the brand new LC. Just turned 400 miles 30 minutes ago.

I use Toyota brand. At least until my extended warranty on my LC end. Then. I will switch to Mobil 1 oil and filter

I use "notes" on my iPhone and keep a log of maintenance on all of our vehicles and ATV's. It is also nice to use because I can keep all of the details really easy to find for various diff oils, amounts, torque specs, etc. I actually bought a roll of the clear stickers for the front windshield corner so I can put my own oil change reminders up there. I ignore the maintenance minder because I do mine way more frequently than OEM recommended.

I'm a 5K change kind of guy. No reminders no notes, other than my log and that's for record keeping for warranty. I use the odometer, 5K intervals, regardless if I'm a little over or a little under, the next oil change will be at the next 5K mark. Nothing to calculate, nothing to keep track of, except what day is going to be sunny....... lol

Exact same for me.

I ordered a case of filters from Olath Toyota. I have used them for years and my last order I got a great deal being a customer for a long time. $2.50 per filter.

Now I can’t say if anyone else will get this deal but this dealers parts counter guys are the best. In order small clips, and little things and they take the time to find the things that I need. Prices are always fair and shipping is quick and packing is always great. As time goes on for the Land Cruiser these will be my go to people for sure.

I need to do that too!! I have 3 vehicles that take the same oil filter. 2022. 2025 Corolla's, and LC250 all take the same oil filter.

Buy the OEM Toyota filter. It's about $5 at your dealer and won't be questionable for warranty related claims. Most filters are actually more expensive than OEM. I would go with WIX otherwise.

Probably, but it's not the correct one. There is a thread somewhere that talked about the longer filters were better for the LC's engine yadda, yadda.

My opinion hasn't changed.... why would you risk your warranty on an idea that you read on the internet..........

When inspecting the 2 items. The business ends appear the same for connection. The one selected has a deeper drop. Suggests more filtering element. Same price so...
