OEM rear differential skid plate installation

I installed mine today. A few quick notes, I’ll write more on my build thread probably.

• Clearance is decreased by 9/16” according to my laser distance thingamajig measuring to the center of the low point.
• You do need a short/small socket for one of the brake line bolts. I got it started with a 1/4” drive socket, then removed and started it again with a wrench.
• Unlike the directions, it seems like you need to hook one end of the bracket under the sway bar, then carefully(!!!) move the brake line out just enough to get it under. The directions seem to say you would get it under the brake line first, but I could not figure out any way to get it under the sway bar if I did that.

Man I simply can’t get these brackets under the sway bar no matter what kind of angle I take.

It can be a bit of a Tetris challenge.

One of mine wouldn’t fit, so I put the rubber on first and then worked the bracket in. Make sure you’ve got the slope oriented the right way.

Well I got it. Rubber first. Some slick detail spray on the rubber to get the bracket to slide. Under sway bar. Under brake line. In that order. I didn’t like pulling on that brake line but it worked.

Installed this OEM skid plate today. The driver side was fairly easy, but had to also loosen the upper brake line bracket above the diff to get enough clearance on the brake line without having to force it. Nice addition to the ones that already came on the FE.
