I have had both Magnaflow and AWE on my Jeeps. I currently have the Magnaflow on my LC as the AWE was not available when I upgraded. While I'm happy with the Magnaflow, it has a more subdued sound. I think AWE is a bit higher in quality and finish. If I were doing this upgrade today, I would with out a doubt go with the AWE.

I cannot compare my AWE to any other auto exhaust (happy to talk moto exhausts!), but the AWE build quality and fitment are great. This is a well designed, engineered, and built American product. And it does sound good. Nice and throaty (probably as good as possible for this engine), and early droning subsides during break in.

250 mile update and it's settling in nice. What I decribed before as maybe a little drone when first installed is gone, it's def not drone. I've had drone before where it feels like a dentist drill in your head and giving you a headache. This doesn't do that.

When crusing on the highway, it's great. When flooring it, it's great.

I'm still adjusting to hearing the engine/start stop when putting around town. That was seamless and unoticable before the exhaust, but now you'll hear everytime it starts/stops.

Show me the dyno.........OE v this unit. Performance always trumps sounds to me..... If you get a guinea pig also do with and without a CAI but better still with and without a tune. Nowadays, CAI usually give little to nothing but a tune and better exhaust flow can both increase efficiency and performance, based on my 2GRFE experience.

Yes, my experience is the same. I am about 800 miles into the install, now also with a SXTH Element CAI, and no longer sense/hear drone. It’s just sound, and a good one. I’m quite pleased with the AWE and would buy it again.

Probably, but the time and temperature are not in my favor right now, so since my LC has to go in for some other work, they are basically doing it for nothing with the right tools on a lift. I'll take that for the win.

Ok, home from the install. My immediate "pre break in" thoughts are - it's VERY throaty when engaging the gas to speed up. Hopefully that will settle down a bit because it's too loud to even have a conversation inside the cabin - I mean it is very loud. Once on the highway...it settled a decent bit. Didn't get any droning when cruising except for when it had to downshift to keep up speed here in the hilly area of Western PA. So for now, I'd like to think this is louder than it will be once it breaks in. If not, I'll probably have to switch back to stock. To me there is a difference between throaty and rich vs. just loud. Really want this to hit the sweet spot in the middle....

I should add - it was raining here and cold, so windows were up. No recordings or videos.

I’m now more than 1k miles on mine and just did first “long” road trip (i.e., 4 hours) and I think it’s settled in nicely. Drove in the 70-75 mph range for most of it. Absolutely more throaty than stock, which is not throaty at all), and was able to take calls, talk with my four year old, and listen to music easily (not all at once except to some degree the latter two). I’m pleased with this new exhaust and would buy it again.

I don't know if this helps with a phone recording, but it's cruising at 80mph, windows up, about 2K RPM.

That being said, I'm going back to OEM.

Where I thought I wanted extra sound, it turns out I do not and while the OEM exhaust sounds like ass when I do hear it, I mostly don't hear it and decided that's what I want in this vehicle. If it was a V8, different story.

Fascinating. I’ve had similar thoughts but I do like mine, and my wife (leaving me, sadly) had the OEM discarded without my input.

The decibel between OEM Exhaust output is (79) and AWE is 82 on idle. On Jack Rabbit throttle AWE goes up to 89. Seems decent. The TRD notes are hitting on 91-93.

I didn't take db levels on mine during idle or jack rabbit throttle but I can tell you that when we were going up some of the hills around us (Western PA) and the engine was under normal stress to power up, my wife and I couldn't have a conversation in the LC. I have since removed the exhaust and it is sitting in my garage. I put the OEM one back on.
