How many of you out there have run through the "one year activation" of software features that we rent in a $72K vehicle?

And, what is your opinion of Toyota wanting us to PAY MORE FOR FEATURES WE PURCHASED ALREADY?

I'm only 3 months in, but yeah, I highly resent rebuying things I already bought, and then paying for them forever. For myself, I'll be interested to see if not renewing those subscriptions actually affects my life, I don't use the Navigation, I have no need for remote start, etc.. To be honest I haven't paid much attention to what is a subscription and what is not, so it will be interesting next summer if things I like start going away.

Some days I feel like the old man shaking his fist at the clouds, recurrent revenue is the name of the game right now, so I don't think it will be too long until we are renting our sneakers. Its a brave new world.

Curious - what features do you feel you “already paid for” and are being asked to purchase again?

"connected on the road with up-to-date navigation, live-agent navigation assistance, and a seamless virtual assistant while being able to browse and play your Amazon Music * subscription on select 2022 and later vehicles"

But you didn’t pay for these twice. It’s very clearly not included in the purchase price of the vehicle, and it is an ongoing service which relies on massive infrastructure you didn’t pay for, outside of your subscription.

Did your salesperson suggest that the vehicle purchase price included lifetime ancillary services at no charge? Mine didn’t know anything about it, but I had researched it beforehand (that’s what I do on a $70k purchase).

I am still enrolled in the $15/month services.

I may let it expire again, and just see how I do with out it.. I am guilty of leaving Miss Daisy unlocked on short trips around town, and it sure is handy being able to lock her from inside the store.

I refuse to pay a monthly fee for any additional services.
