New to LC and have suspension questions.

Hi all, has anyone done just UCAs and left the rest of the suspension stock? Looking for a less expensive way to control body roll until i can do a full OME overhaul. Thoughts?
It won’t affect body roll, though the higher caster may make the vehicle feel a bit more planted, by improving self-centering. Otherwise changing the UCAs only fixes geometry issues caused by changing other parts. If you’re not changing other parts, you can feel confident that Toyota got the geometry right and don’t need to replace UCAs.

Thank you! Can you make a recommendation on stiffening the body roll? Does that leave me just needing a suspension upgrade? I feel like KDSS solved this in the 200 or TRD off road 4R. Thanks

I’m not the suspension expert here at all, so others more knowledgeable than me will undoubtedly weigh in with corrections.

Sway bars, spring rates, and shock valving/damping are the suspension elements that’ll affect body roll. Upgraded springs are probably the most effective way to affect your body roll through parts changes, but also don’t discount the effect of your COG - if you’ve got heavy stuff on the roof you’re gonna feel roll!

Has anyone looked into the sumosprings coil inserts?

I’d imagine you’d trade some articulation but it seems like a decent option for folks staying on the road looking to make things a little more progressive, might even help dampen wash board gravel roads.

I can't believe we've gotten this far and no one has asked the most important question -

What company do you work for and do they have job openings?

I was the third person in our start up company so I have some perks after 15 years in business.

Kudos to you and the company success. That's awesome. I say do whatever makes you happy with the truck if you can afford it. Also remember if you regret the mods, you can always go back to OEM if you keep the parts.
So it has been a while, did you change suspension and tires and if so, what did you go with?

When I started this thread I had already decided on going with Method 703’s and tire selection and suspension mods was undecided. I ended up doing the same as member Blue Bear did and he posted his setup in this thread. I just got the wheels about 3 weeks ago as they were on back order. I love the look and having better tires helped this last week with the storms we have had and our roads wash out really bad. I did not change anything on the suspension. Just getting a feel for the tires at the moment. I can’t say I feel much difference in the ride. I will play with tire pressure to see what that does. I may be able to go lower air pressure since we do little to no highway driving.

How do you like the stock suspension on washboard roads?

It does well in stock from with the 20” factory wheel but even better now with the 17” wheels and more sidewall. Like I said earlier I will start playing with the air pressure next and see how that goes. It’s all relative because I have a Ram 2500 diesel pickup and that is rough so the LC is a dream. I live where the road is private so the neighbors and I maintain the road so it’s just how bad we allow it to get before we get the tractors out and smooth things out a bit.
