Land Rover is also trying to capitalize on their ultra-mega successful child: Range Rover. Now it has an entire family of products:
- Range Rover (the OG)
- Range Rover Sport
- Range Rover Velar
- Range Rover Evoque

Yeah, I think that the motivation is similar (a smaller vehicle that can capitalize on the brand and image of a popular larger version), but this FJ is obviously more off-road focused and more true to the name it's inheriting, IMO.
A better comparison might be the Bronco and Bronco II from back in the 80s
I used to own a Honda Element. Trust me they are nothing alike. They can’t even keep the suicide door in this one.
The only way to make this small "FJ" right.... is to put in the I-max engine... 326Hp... 465lb torque.... Then buy it stripped down to nothing.... and make a off road beast... like the very old Bronco
Wonder if it has seat jackers for little people/////looks like one of those 3/4 replicas

That would be sick but alas would probably price it out for the target market.

Land Cruiser is such an iconic name and has been for a half century.
The fact that it is a Toyota and is able to fly under the radar when necessary makes it even more desirable to many like-minded people who prefer to be subtle.
Mercedes / BMW / Audi / Land Rover on the other hand are well known flashy name plates even though everyone knows the vast majority of these vehicles are leases and are the entry to mid level models that are very affordable to the majority of people.

It is a neat design. Small but the cargo squared opening is good for cargo.
