I bought a 1958 model Land Cruiser. Love it but i'm getting about 14.8 MPG. I added 33" tires and a front runner slimline 2 roof rack which i'm sure are affecting it a bit....but the best i got was 19.4 MPG on a 180 mile highway trip when it was brand new stock....anybody having this issue?

yes, this issue has been resolved. Please see this thread - I got 76.6 MPG with this weird trick.

And also these threads

.... and certainly more if you go past page 1 of a search for "mpg"

It will improve as it breaks in, but maybe by only 1 or 2 mpg though. I've experienced this and others in these forums saw that same. Your tires and that gear on your roof rack will definitely affect your performance.

I have A/T 275s and didn't quite hit 22 mpg on my last tank with about 3000 miles. I suspect I'd get 23 mpg if I'd kept my stock tires. This is with slow driving.

The city gas mileage on my 2024 1958 trim had been 17 mpg. This was disappointing as less than the EPA rating 21, but the highway mileage was 27 mgp which is better than the EPA rating...

Around 5000 miles, I put a bottle of Liquid-Moly DIJectron injector cleaner in the gas tank before a fill-up. The city mileage improved to 22 mpg and highway remains 27 mpg. The improvement has been stable for several hundred miles with various different testings. Hoping it stays improved above EPA rating for both city and highway and this information may be used to others as this forum has been helpful to me.

DIJectron

I believe the Land Cruiser engine has both direct injection injectors and traditional injection. I'd heard many reports of direct injection having clogging problems after 50k or so, so I thought maybe, just maybe some early injector cleaning could help the fuel economy. There are different injector cleaners for Direct Injection and traditional injection, I went the direct injection cleaner as it would seem the most likely to need cleaning.

The engine had received a 5000 mile synthetic oil change, and also one at 800 after the break-in period.
