LC250 Rattling/gurgling noise

I posted this in another thread about what seems to be a different noise, but I thought I’d start a new thread for this particular noise.

I sometimes hear a faint rattling/gurgling noise when letting off accelerator at low speeds. I saw where others have heard noises while accelerating, but this only seems to be when letting off accelerator. Only have 1k miles on the vehicle. Anyone else heard this in their LC?

I get this as well, sounds like a tapping coming from the glove compartment

I haven't heard this one in my 13k miles so far, but curious as to what it might be.

Its just a bit annoying, you can only hear it when there's no music. No performance issues.

I would clarify though, there are multiple threads here with rattling noises -
1. A user reported revving his RPMs +3500 upon cold-start, and the engine shook. Toyota bought his back to breakdown/study and likely forced him to sign an NDA - we never really heard from him again
2. Users have reported rattling and noises from outside the vehicle, taking videos while driving at low 5-10MPH speeds and videoing with their windows down - aimed at the rear doors
3. My noise sounds like a rattling, tapping coming from the glove compartment when rolling (off brakes) at very low speeds... crawling parking lots, etc


So it depends which one you're experiencing

No problems aside from focusing too much to see if I can hear it, haha.

The dealer may say piston slap and it’s no good. I’m wondering if the engine may be designed this way for a reason. If it was actually bad I believe Toyota would come up with a fix. they sent a new block for mine

I think you have my rattle.. rattle #3. I hear it, its slightly annoying - but I don't notice any performance issues so it doesn't really matter. I bought mine mid-August so almost 3 months ago w/5k miles. Loving almost everything besides that rattle. NBD IMO!

Yeah it doesn’t seem to be a big deal. And I agree, I’m loving mine as well!

I have both sounds in mine. 3K miles. Cold start acceleration sounds like a piston slap/bad lifter. Goes away when car warms up. The faint gurgling sounds when letting off at low speeds is also present. It almost sounds like a turbo blow off valve. I kinda assumed that’s what it was but it’s annoying. I’m taking mine back to the dealer. This engine sounds like crap. And it idles rough.

Yeah I have figured out that I’m pretty sure the gurgling sound is the turbo.

I had to get a bunch of repairs done on my car, windshield + glove box replacement, etc...

figured I'd have them take a look at the rattling noise. remember, there are multiple threads and different types of noises...

the tech said they fixed the same noise in a Tacoma a few days earlier, they insulated the airbox and it seemed to have resolved it - will update if it hasn't been resolved. happened @ Northridge Toyota in SoCal
