Is anyone using a Toyota credit card key, as seen in this video

I think it’s strictly a function of the part number doesn’t match the VIN and there is no script for that task and that the culture is we do everything by the book…. Some techs (or their management) will give it a try and fly solo and some won’t.

So what's the big secret that Ed Martin seems to know, but no other dealers do??
When I had mine programmed by my local dealer, it took some convincing to get them to try it. If done incorrectly there is a chance that the procedure will "Brick" the system (locks the key module to a point that a new module is required).

Since there isn't a CC key part number for the LC and the FICC number printed on the circuit board isn't supposed to work with the FICC number on the LC's key module (as explained to me by the 1st locksmith I went to), most dealers probably don't want to accept the financial liability of "Bricking" the vehicle. Cause we all know the customer would simply say "Ok, I authorize an addition $2K to put it back the way it was".

"MUSTs", it must be a 2024 Tacoma and the CC key has be a brand new, never programed card. IMO if it wasn't purchased from a Toyota dealer, you really don't know what you're getting. I purchased mine from an on-line dealer (Ed Martin Toyota) took it to my local dealer, after convincing them I would accept a "Brick" condition and pay for any repairs, it took them less than a hour and the Service person stated something to the affect of "I'll be damned, didn't think it would work".

(there may be other CC keys beside the 24 Taco)
