Introducing "Land Cruiser Garage Talk" – Your New Go-To for Garage Gear & Setup

My garage setup.

I remodeled the garage last fall and finished just about the time I got the 1958.

I've had those racks that lower from the ceiling for years, but now they're loaded with overlanding and off road gear. Those are the rear seats you see sitting on the floor. I had three Yeti coolers. I'm down to two now and will sell another this summer. I got an Iceco APL35 and I think that will work well. I'm hoping that will make enough room to store the seats up on the racks. I don't want to keep them on the floor.

But that's it. I like to sit out there, listen to the stereo, smoke a cigar, and stare at my Land Cruiser.

Well done! That looks like a great garage to hang out in and work or projects, or not.

What's the scoop on what looks to be a portable log fireplace?

Man I wish my garage were that clean! Mine has paths between the machines and crap piled everywhere! Someday I'll build my dream shop with tons of room, but until my daughter decides where they are going to settle, I'll make do with what I have.

Thanks! That was me a year ago. It was more work than I expected, but totally worth it.

I try to invest in good quality tools, but Horrible Freight does have a floor jack that I'm considering. It's the Badland off-road jack.

This weekend could be the perfect chance to grab a Badlands Off-Road Jack if you’ve been eyeing one. They usually go for $300, but a 10% discount drops it to $270. That's about as low as I have heard of these being on sale. Bigger coupons pop up sometimes, but they typically don’t apply to this jack.

I believe that's a Huskey adjustable height workbench from Home Depot.

I’ve never seen that at any Home Despot that I have been to.

I bought a 2’ X 8’ maple butcher block table top from the local WoodCraft in Boise Idaho 12 years ago before I moved back east. It has been in storage since then. I recently got it out of storage, and plan on making a work table of sorts with it.

If you have decided to keep the stock wheels and tires after an upgrade, where are you storing them in your garage. Maybe a rack recommendation or any tips to prevent dry rot.
I have no idea if this is the right way to do it, but I found some 36" x 36" chrome steel shelves and put cardboard on top of that. Also blocked the direct sunlight after taking this photo. This is our garden shed/workshop, the only place I had room. With two of us it wasn't too difficult getting them all up there, less difficult than I thought it might be.

The only thing I would do, would be to add a dark bed sheet/cover over the stack to help prevent UV damage. While that window wouldn't seem to allow that to happen, UV is UV even if it's indirect.
