Im the guy scraped my 1958 along a rock

What's the OnX rating for that trail? Yikes!

Also, would love to see the damage to the skid plate, as many of us wonder about it and the radiator supports that were so famously thrashed in the desert on YT.

I cannot believe how many aftermarket skids are sticking with the factory radiator support mounts. Madness.

Dude, imagine what you'd be capable of in a "real" Land Cruiser! ;)

Seriously though...well done. I'm not sure I could've retained your level of calm. And I know I couldn't have negotiated that in the first place.

I got you fam

Hey that’s not bad at all! You are really getting to know your truck in a much deeper way than most here ever will (especially the numbskulls who will dismiss you for making a mistake). In other words - you’re getting actual experience!

Anyway, glad you didn’t actually break any welds. I’m looking forward to seeing what the aftermarket comes up with to correct for this design issue. I’m also planning to go with the Victory front skid - thinking RCI for the rest, but still trying to determine compatibility.

A pic of my skid plates after spending a lot of time off road in Colorado. No dents on either plate, just some scrapes. I'm not sure how they would've fared on the trail you did, but they are significantly better than the skids that come with the LC (other than the FE - these are the FE skids.) Glad to see you got your rig back together.

The WK sliders are stout and tuck up nicely. Install wasn’t bad at all.
I ended up going with the Shelby Special so they may stick out a bit more. Can’t wait to get them on.

Hey everybody! I’m new to the forum. Purchased my 1958 in March. Some of you may have seen this video floating around already, but in case you didn’t, check it out!

Couldn’t believe how capable this thing is stock. Grinded my “predator steps” completely off and demolished the front skid. Definitely bent the radiator support bar and I’m planning on looking into a fix plus some aftermarket skids that actually attach to the frame. I’ve ordered some White Knuckle Shelby Special sliders that are supposed to be arriving the 16th.

As far as the rear quarter panel, a local body shop worked some magic!

So which body shop did you use? I also live in Raleigh and a guy in NM about three weeks ago chewed up my left rear door and chewed some of the paint off my left rear wheel...and he was uninsured...at least I am insured for uninsured motorist... At least mine was driveable, so I then managed to but about 6,000 in it getting it home - these are tough vehicles!
