I don’t think there is a single piece of technology that you can turn off that I have left on. I use the regular rear view mirror. I don’t like adaptive cruise control. I turned off all the assistive stuff. The features are interesting but if you’re older and accustomed to regular driving, they are somewhat annoying. Totally understand that it is probably a generational thing.

All the automation will lull you to sleep on a long trip. Recommend getting out of the vehicle every 2 hours and walk around a bit. The digital rear view makes me feel as though I need my eyes checked. No depth perception at all. If my GSD is sitting up in the rear I can use the rear view camera to see behind me.

 

[Defender-LC]

Coming from a 24 Land Rover Defender, I can say the LC is a good hwy cruiser, but not as comfortable as the Defender. Air ride is a thing and while the LC stock suspension is pretty good at soaking up road imperfections, the air ride is superior.

The LC’s lumbar isn’t height adjustable while my 24 Tacoma TRD OR Premium’s seats lumbar are height adjustable.

Both the Tacoma and Defender have actual heat in their heated seats. The LC’s seats are barely warm in comparison. I would seriously entertain putting my tacoma’s seats in the LC. I can’t fathom why the LC LC Premium has less capable and less warm seats.

Keeping in mind my Defender was 20k more and cost much more in carrying costs, I’m pretty satisfied with the LC.

A 16.9 oz or .5l water bottle stuck in the steering wheel gap at the bottom of either side of the steering wheel fools the system in to thinking your hand is on the wheel. Still need to turn off the driver camera but the car will “drive itself” with the acc and lane monitoring engaged. Not that I am endorsing or encouraging this I am just telling you it will work.

Finally tried this yesterday as you had it pictured. A regular grocery store plastic water bottle - WOW! This hack works scary good! Fools the system better than my hands can. Drove itself flawlessly for about 20 highway miles without a single prompt. Definitely use responsibly and always keep your eyes on the road!
