Finally a solid Dealership

I had a terrible experience with maintenance with my prior Toyota purchased at a dealer outside of Pittsburgh. They were great during the sale, but absolutely would not stand behind the product when I started having electrical issues, some of which left me stranded. They even tried to make me pay for a new battery under warranty. I start with this because I swore off of Toyota. Fast forward about 8 years and I wanted to explore the new Land Cruiser. I started dealing with several dealers in the Dallas Texas area in mid 2024 looking for a 2025. Most dealers at that time were "upcharging" for the LC or charging MSRP with lots of dealer add on's which they refused to remove or negotiate on.

I found Tim at Freeman Toyota in Hurst Texas. From the first interaction, he was straight with me, understood my position and willing to work to get me what I wanted. I offered a deposit, but during our interactions, he found me to be sincere and honest about what I wanted and refused any deposits. When the 25's started shipping he searched the incoming shipments, intercepted the exact truck I wanted and traded the dealer for it so it when to Freeman. We negated several thousand off MSRP, negotiated a trade in on my Jeep, and I drove down to pick up my LC.

I half expected the same crappy service, but was pleasantly surprised to find these guys care about the customer and after sales service. I just came back from my second appointment and they do indeed are about servicing your vehicle. From intake to completion, top notch service and care. They had a master mechanic drive my truck with me to address a few of my concerns as well. very professional. I'm still waiting for the parts to fix the break squeal but so far these guys deserve a shout out as much as the sub par dealers need called out. FYI I was in at 8:00 am out at 9:30 with all the inspections, 5 tire rotation, oil/filter and wash.

I had the opposite experience at Freeman. When the LC first came out, I called Freeman in July 2024 and I was quoted MSPR plus 10K (market adjustment) plus dealer addons plus tax for LCLC premium.

I purchased my LCLC premium the next day at Toyota of Denton for MSRP plus tax in July 2024. No addons no bullshit.
The other dealership I had great experience was Family Toyota in Arlington.

Good to know. I did all my work with them on line using the internet department. I ended up 4K under sticker with them. The service has just been exceptional. Were you dealing with a sales person off the floor or a cold call?

I had a good experience at Lynch Toyota in Manchester, CT. They worked with me on the price of my LC 58. So far, the service department has been nothing but pleasant to deal with.

Western Washington - Good Dealerships *Per the experiences below

Sales:
**Lake City Toyota, Seattle, WA: Went to go look at a Heritage Blue LC trim in person, wasn't sure how bright of a blue it was. The dealership is a newer-ish-ly remodeled dealership, was super busy, and the salesman seemed to know quite a bit about the vehicle. They had a $4,000 markup that they weren't going to directly budge on but I was able to make a deal work. I was able to get them to a fair trade in value, and when they came back with "OK are you ready to buy? What would get you to buy" and all that mumbo-jumbo, (I hadn't gone down intending to buy), I told them I wanted XXX dollars for my trade in (an amount that was basically me selling it myself), a set of Trail Hunter Rims, and the Toyo AT3s. Surprisingly they said yes and 3 weeks, 4 days, and 17 hours later I left the dealership having lost 18 pounds from the wasteland of getting into and through the F&I office lol

Service:
Rodland Toyota, Everett, WA:
Being that this dealership is closest to my home and work, I chose it for my alignment after lift. I wasn't sure what to expect after their sales dept. was meh at best over the phone when shopping, but was and still am absolutely blown away. Mind you all of the below is even after not buying from them.

Showed up when they opened at 7am for an alignment appointment to wait in their service lobby, which is nice w a full coffee bar etc. They had on online coupon for an alignment for $129 and I wanted my post-lift alignment in their database for piece of mind if any is allowed for potential warranty issues. The service write told me their truck master tech was the one that would be doing the job, and occasionally I wander around the corner and peer back to see it on the rack. WELL, AFTER 6 HOURS, my write cam and got me, with the tech, and went through everything. He had it aligned in the green fairly quickly, drove it, and realized it wasn't quite right although showing green, and kept repeating until it was. 6 and a half hours later. For a master tech at a dealership who makes almost all of his money from standard rate jobs, i.e. he gets paid 1.5 hours for an alignment period, to keep working on it until it was perfect is amazing. Most places I've experienced, dealerships or Les Schwab etc. would see that the machine says it's green and send me away after taking my money. They even took the $129 coupon lol I ended up lifting it up a bit more in the front, took it back, only took him about an hour to dial it back in, and accepted the coupon again.

I've been back twice more for my 5,000 mile as well as a trans temp checkout and suspension check over and received the same amount of effort and consideration.

I honestly wish the dealership I bought from had a decent service department. So far they are 3 for 3 on leaving me wishing for the Nissan dealership that serviced my Xterra. Never once had a concern with them getting the job done right and on time. The Toyota dealership can't even manage to get the paperwork correct to say that they rotated the tires.
I thought my dealership was solid, and bragged about them, until the other day.. I took Miss Daisy in for the 15,000 mile service, and they told me that I missed the 10,000 mile service, and Toyota could deny warranty coverage because of that. I showed the service writer that they were wrong, and told them that I changed the oil at +/- 1,300, 5,000, 10,000, and 15,000 miles, AND had oil analysis results on each sample to prove it. I also complained that the service writer didn’t do the 10,000 mile service when I was there, since I drove 2 1/2 hours to their dealership, specifically for that service.. they ended up just rotating the tires.. but NOT doing the service.. and they have not, as of yet lubed the propeller shaft as required by Toyota.

When I lived in Cincinnati, I always had good experiences with Performance Toyota in Fairfield, OH. But that was ling time ago.
More recently I have been dealing with two dealerships in Tucson, AZ:
  • Precision Toyota: good sales dept, but terrible service dept.
  • Desert Toyota: good service dept, lousy sales people
So I bought my LC from Precision but have been servicing my cars at Desert.
In my experiences, a good service advisor is key. You need to find one who knows cars and works with you to only do the services you really need, including things you can DIY, instead of pushing unnecessary "service packages" that some dealers love to sell.

Both. I called in the morning and paid them a visit at noon. Maybe I was shopping for LC in July 2024 when it was new new. No one in the country was offering LC under MSRP in summer of 2024.

Got ya.... I started in August of 24 looking for a 25. Never set foot in the dealership till my LC was there and I drove down in my Jeep, drove back in the LC. I had a similar exprerence when I was looking for a GX. I got real tired of the games there and the markup stupidity. I'm still waiting on a promised call when the 25's are available...LOL

Brining this thread back to life. Anyone know of any good service departments in northern Va/Maryland area?

Sales
Wife and I both bought new Toyotas summer 2025, Hertrich Toyota. Both satisfied with sales and service thus far.
Since all Toyota sales folk know they stand on a solid product platform. There is little room for negotiation. So for all deals you need to follow the guides for how to best work your deal. Work the trade. Work the financing or not. Get the manager to come to the table. Hammer out the best you can. On the sales side they know, its time to simply get out the order form. The product sells itself on reputation for reliability

Service
Again we have had decent experience on the service side with Hertrich Toyota. The scheduling can be done online.
The online scheduling seems better then calling in. They have a nice lounge and free coffee or water and a vending machine for snacks. Comfy chairs and a TV for while you wait for service. I was satisfied when the service manager agreed to move up my 5,000 mile free oil change while there for some minor problems.

Overall I would recommend using Hertrich. Did Hove bad experience in NJ with Toyota dealers. Thats history.
