Dead battery in smart key

Good point @EOD Guy but then it clinks at you every few minutes till you get to a new battery and if I'm out in the middle of nowhere and got a few hours (or days) to a battery, that clinking would ruin my trip. If you know how to turn that clinking off when that happens, I'm all ears.

Case in point:
In my case after it started, I removed the battery and reinstalled it and it worked. If it wouldn't have worked, I probably would of taped the FOB to the button till the next parts store/Walmart. I do carry a spare Credit Card Key battery as they I don't think they're are as readily avail.

You can start the LC with a dead FOB battery.

Use the physical key to open the door.
Touch the FOB to the start button on the dash, leave it there and press the start button.
I’ve read that in the owners manual. But how do you hold the key fob over the start button, and then get a finger in there to push the start button? Or am I missing something?

I just push the button with the FOB.

Batteries Plus has a lifetime replacement system for key fob batteries. It’s about $20 or less once, and from there, if the battery goes dead, go to Batteries Plus. They replace the battery for free, and thank you for being a Batteries Plus customer. If you swap vehicles a lot, it's not a good deal, but if you keep them for a while, it definitely is.
