Come along, hand winch

Anyone have a real good come along they recommend for recovery?
I have a small 2T chain winch, 150' of "blue steel" 5/8" syn line and a 4X mechanical pulley system. It's not meant for pulling the LC out but rather to move heavy objects out of the way. Might work in a pinch, at least that's the plan.

I did a come-a-long recovery once. Stopped carrying a come-a-long after that. 🥴
It was either never do that again, or work on my upper body strength.

Wouldn't recommend it, it wont end well. Even a 4T synthetic would only work for a very minor stuck situation and for that price a winch isn't much more money. Those cable come alongs aren't meant for that, the cable and hooks can't handle the loads required. For reference those cables are usually the size of an ATV winch cable.

I have a 8T winch and will be getting two snatch blocks and the associated soft gear to be able to do Double pulls at 16K LBS. and Spanish Burton at 32K LBS which should cover situation I may encounter. I went with an 8T to keep weight down and reduce the current draw while winching.

All four tires stuck in shallow mud results in about 11k LB pull requirement and all four tires stuck in deep mud is around 12k and just 10 degrees into the equation and your over 14k! There is a paid app call Safe-Xtract you can use to safely calculate loads so your not going in blind and causing carnage or death.

The good recovery gear costs as much as a winch and sometimes more. Do you need a winch, I don't think so. I've only been stuck once were a winch was needed but I'm to old to be doing the hard work that may be required to get free without a winch anymore so I got one.

Tow strap/Kinetic recovery line with soft shackles, traction boards and a shovel will likely cover 99% of the situations and are allot safer than winching and certainly safer than a come along.
