Brakes Squeal

It's 2025. The asshats pushed the expense into the next year. Bonuses are what matter, and Toyota corporate hasn't been able to provide the car volume to make North America Toyota look good. The expense they can manage is warranty claims..

As I've posted previously, no one in management at Toyota would drive a car with the noises in the video I posted above. No in dealership management would tolerate a vehicle in that condition. But its OK for us. And the dealer charges me to bring it in.

Find another dealer..

My dealer acknowledged the problem and attempted to fix the brake squeal by lubricating the pads. Unfortunately the squeal returned within a week.

Hopefully there is a service bulletin coming out. But it would still be good to call Toyota and open a case.

Opened a case with Toyota and the NHTSA last month. I also would encourage all 2024 LC owners to do so.
I am curious as to why the NHTSA would be interested in ‘brake squeal’. 🤔

have a reference number?
No reference number yet. The dealer called me and acted like they wanted to fix the issue all of the sudden - but said there was no bulletin out yet. The toyota mother ship (brand group) was the one who called to tell me it was coming out. She said she would call me back to confirm everything was taken care of by the dealer.

Does anyone know if the TSB has dropped yet?

The local dealer is being a real asshat about it, first claiming it is normal and then claiming that it is my fault for improperly bedding in the breaks, when I called them on that, they then suddenly said that they will talk to Toyota.

I showed the Service Writer the Lexus TSB, he read it, saying, and this a direct quote, "Lexus drivers are complainers, Lexus knows that and that is why they issued a TSB to keep them quiet and happy as does stuffing their mouths with the free coffee and bagels when they come in for repairs".

Edited to add a few missing words and to correct grammar.

Wow…that’s pretty bold (stupid?)…probably should have kept that one in his “thought bubble”.

FWIW I already have more than 6K miles on my LC and experienced breaks squeal only once when reversing. Due to very long list of reasons, I need to back up into my garage and normally when I’m parking brakes are warm and there is no any squealing. I can speculate that the issue happens only on cold breaks, and only when backing up since I do not experience any squealing when rolling out of the garage. My 2 cents 🤷.

I had this issue at around 1000 miles. As I was gentle on the LC for break in, I was easy on the brakes. Once I "seated" them by a couple of hard stops, It has seemed to go away.

Find. Another. Dealer.
I would, but in my neck of the woods there are four Toyota Dealerships owned by two dealer groups and both dealer groups are known to be terrible.

The other dealer group when diagnosing an issue with a 4Runner told me it was easier to sell them back the car and buy a new one rather than diagnose an issue with the vehicle.

I said there is no way it would be cheaper and the guy looked me for what seemed like eternity and said do you want to talk to sales or take your car home?

Had my 5000 service. They confirmed the extremely loud (neighbor waking) squealing in reverse when cold and opened a case with Toyota. Toyota does not currently have a fix but confirmed other people are filing complaints. I think the more they get the faster they will get a fix.

Nothing on mine yet. But the GX550 has the same issue, and they already have a fix on service bulletin L-SB-0036-24. It's almost a carbon copy of the one I had on my Tundra which was traded in on my LC.
