New member and LC owner here.
I apologize ahead of time If I'm asking some obvious questions. This forum has constantly been a great resource and has answered so many questions for me. Maybe this can help someone else in my same shoes.
So here's my question. I'm going to instal a switch panel for my lights (currently running 2 sets) and am looking for some advice on the best use of the empty auxiliary ports on the 1958. I know that I could install a switch panel to the left of the steering wheel incredibly easily, but I also know that it IS possible to make these auxiliary ports actually practical, so that's why I'm here.
I have two general ideas for how I could pull this off while attempting to wire through the center console. I would love any advice or ideas that you've all had through your own experiences.
___
Option 1: OEM Style Auxiliary Switches
First, does anyone know how to remove the auxiliary panel without taking apart the entire center console? That would be a deal breaker right away.
I've read that some people can remove the individual ports, but I'd want to install a 6 Gang switch panel like this product.
Once removed, is it simple enough to run the wires through the back and through the firewall? Or am I not understanding how this works at all?
I'm not exactly sure how wiring lights to auxiliary ports works either. Is that an unreasonable desire as well?
Open to any ideas that are more OEM and utilize functional switches or locations.
___
Option 2: Less OEM. Way Easier. Auxbeam Switch panels installed in front of the auxiliary ports.
This forum explains it perfectly.
Auxbeam AS series switches for 1958 trim
This 3D printed mounting kit is also perfect.

Again, does anyone know how this is actually mounted and wired? Does the wiring run from the firewall through an empty port as well?
I'm sure this is intuitive to most of you but I can't find any information about wiring something like this in the cabin and I'm not willing to find out the hard way without asking first.
___
Thanks again for helping a rookie out.
Cheers,
Blake
