Adding open and close Kick sensor for the tailgate

I like the idea of a "kick to open" trunk / hatch, however, I have never had it work effectively on my past vehicles that featured that option. Hence, I didn't use it.

Perhaps Toyota has designed this option to work reliably and effectively.

Same issues. It has always been hit or miss. Best chance to open was when washing the car, just when you don't want it to open.

I just put my key FOB in my hands before I pick up the groceries. Hold down the open tailgate button when I get close... magic.

I do the same. But when I am with my wife, I say "Toyota, Open Tailgate' while secretly pushing the button. She is now convinced that the Tailgate is voice activated. I can't wait until she comes home angry, complaining about that it is not working for her.

I had a 2024 Toyota Venza prior to the LC and the kick sensor worked pretty much flawlessly. I do miss it a bit when I approach the tailgate of the LC with my hands full!
