2400w on board inverter

Sad to report that the on-board 120V outlet would not run my Metal Man FC130i flux core welder for more than a second or two. 😞
A real duh moment i suspect. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Anyone ever try one of these bad boys? 600 watt....

The only drawback would be storage space. Individual appliances can be tucked into smaller spaces. Storage in the LC is not exactly spacious......LOL

Nice! Could there be a Prado food truck in the future?

I recall reading that there are two oil pumps. One that is electrically driven that continues oil circulation when the engine is auto-stopped to keep things lubricated. Toyota has some very smart engineers.
Would love it if that’s true. Seems logically likely but when my engine cuts out the oil pressure gauge starts dropping. Shortly it’ll be reading no pressure if engine stays off long enough.

An appropriately sized power station makes the inverter a lot more useful, at least for me. I have a 1000w/750wh Bluetti AC70 for travel (bigger than needed) and now a 5kwh Ecoflow for home. The ecoflow charges at 1800w which keeps the engine running, which I prefer.

I am not at all concerned about wear on the vehicle by using the inverter. I do find the start/stop and all the inverter use noises aqqnnoying at camp. But that is very minamilized with a power station. I don't love the hybrid, but I do find the big inverter useful. For me eliminating a gas backup generator at home is beneficial.

When you're at Camp do you still leave the LC running (starting and stopping all night )or do you turn it off and just use your other power banks while the car is off, then just top up your other power banks from the inverter when you take longer drives?

Another gratuitous use for the inverter. If you are not taking advantage of the hybrid then you are missing out on a whole dimension of its utility. This machine makes hot/cold water and ice cubes in under 10 minutes. Only consumes max 1500 watts.

So I thought well damn that’s pretty cool and found this one that’s all that plus a K-Cup added and $80 cheaper…..LOL!!

Epic video. Many thanks for all your helpful content.

I guess the moral of the story is use a battery bank in between the LC and appliances if building out that kind of heavy use set up. It has many benefits (doubling capacity, fan out, physical flexibility and placement) in addition to protecting all the devices.

By the way, these voltage monitors are very cheap and handy for planning and optimizing usage.

I did a real life test about a year ago on this where I temporarily killed the inverter for a few hours with two heavy loads.

Do you know if the 4 Runners inverter plug in the rear of the console will fit in the location that looks like a blank where an inverter plug could possibly installed?

I would like to have 2 inverter plug locations if possible.

The 2400 watt inverter on board is a innovative feature. So I can leave my adjunct unit home. The benefit like with any peripheral unit would be similar with a old fashioned 12 volt plug in inverter. Its a drain on your battery. So proceed as you were...
Do not kill your battery.

At full load the on board inverter will draw ?X amps. Not sure what or where the DC side voltage is coming from?
A decent kitchen micro wave is 1000 - 1200 watts.
So your kitchen in a box will draw 1200w / 120vac = 10 amps nominal. You wont use it that long to heat up those great home cooked items you were smart enough to bring. Cook a nice steak or some Thai peanut satay pork chops.
So no need for these idot, heavy, maxed out kitchens jamming up and wasting all that interior space.
This over landing sales effort is way over the top, how idiotic. How ridiculously idiotic.
The on board inverter and maybe a spare battery and even an additional inverter for 12vdc primary gives you tons of options. Induction burners, coffee maker, prepared foods you only have to heat up, all top shelf stuff. Whatever additional electronics you need on a trip. Now don't forget a fridge. Radio station, satellite tracking and coms, movie night, sky's the limit.

Most are sleeping on the greatest aspect of the hybrid, which is the 2.4kW inverter which is incredible for overlanding. I've been doing this a long time, DC-DC and solar charge controllers. Upgraded alternators. 100Ah LiFePO4 batteries back they cost nearly a grand - EACH.

Now, you can literally plug in the 2.4kW inverter into a $500 2kW power station and fully recharge it in 1.5-hours. The charge rate is incredible. This will handle any and all needs out on the trail.

I have a 280Ah LiFeP04 battery to run all my DC appliances which will soon be paired with a 1kW PSW Inverter / 50A charger combo as that 'FOR ME' increases my capabilities at camp. Gives me a little bit of AC power when I need it to boil water in a kettle for hot chocolate (wife) or coffee (me). Alternatively, start the engine for 3-5 minutes and do the same with a 1,500-watt kettle without the need of an additional inverter. I may end up just buying a 2kW PSW inverter and 50A AC-DC charger separately, I'm just not a fan of the packaging with two components.

I had started researching for possibility of adding a 2nd 110v outlet in the 2nd row seating area for my G-Baby's Ipad etc....... As usual, I weighed the "how much would it be actually used" vs the time and expense of the mod. In my case the honest answer was very little, maybe a couple times a year. My solution......... I purchased the shortest 12g extension cord I could find locally (8') I cut off the male end at approx 3' and used that for my trickle charger 110v pass-through. I put on a new male end to the remainder and use that for my 2nd 110v outlet for my G-Baby's Ipad. It tucks nicely in the rear seat split, just below the arm rest/cup holder and is very easily removed for the 90% of the time it's not needed. When camping the new cord is used to power the convection hot plate or instant kettle. I'm seriously considering adding a 2nd 110v extension cord pass through on the passenger's side so I don't have to shut the cord in the hatch at night, I shut the hatch to keep the bugs out while on my laptop and enjoying the campfire, but disconnect everything while sleeping.

Yes its nice for travel needs. Plug in your shaver, charge up your pc, phone, and other items. Without packing another unit.
Agree, that it would be better to understand more about the draw capabilities and amp limits. Impact on battery life etc. However, we have some very technical folk here on the forum to help reason that out...

I just finished watching this video--- Amazing!
Very thorough with real-world limits and explanations.

This inverter is a total game-changer. I rarely used the 400w in the back of my old 4runner.... so much so that I have basically ignored the one in my LC until today.

Thank you very much Eric!
