Hi all,
I’m not a big fan of the stock oem 18 wheels and the 245 tires.

I’m considering buying a Land Cruiser LC trim take off wheels set 18s with the Michelin 265 oem tires.

Then I’ll use the old wheels for winter tires.

Has anyone done this, worth the upgrade?

Many have done exactly this and shared their experiences. If you use the search bar (top right corner of the screen) you will find exactly what you’re looking for.

This is well discussed for sure. It is also the first mod a discerning 1958 owner should perform, if they care about the accuracy of their 1958’s speed, distance and efficiency reporting.

I did not go with LC wheels, but I did go with another Toyota OE option with a 32.6” equivalent tire size. The LC trim wheels are an excellent option though, and fairly consistently available. I’m actually going to run these 286/65s down to 5 or 6/32 and install 275/70s.

If you want to consider the other OE options available to you, visit this thread: Tire (and a few wheel) options spreadsheet
I am also willing to discuss fitment concerns from a 1958 perspective, just send me a message.

Sorry guys my bad! I normally do search, dropped the ball!
We forgive you so long as you don’t create a new thread on fuel economy / range. 😆

I’ll be selfish and accept it as just another opportunity to rant about my only legitimate complaint with the 1958. Toyota putting 245s on LCs calibrated to 32.6” diameter for (what I assume to be true) regulatory reasons, knowing the indications are false, is criminal IMO.
