12 volt battery is important!-maybe an issue summary for error messages?

If you press start without having your foot on the brake, your LC will be in ACCY mode (engine not running) and you will start to drain the 12v system with just a door open. In mine after having the door open for several hours, the 12v battery would go flat. (I've never even tried the inverter without the ICE being on)

If you press start with your foot on the brake and start the engine, the hybrid system and the ICE are in full operation. If you then open the door, you should get a message on the dash asking if you want to auto-shut off after 1 hour etc.......

Wish I had read this thread before today.

Owned my LC for 2 days and had the battery discharge too much to start the car today while having the windows tinted. The window tint tech and other shop techs were all flipping out a little. I was a little concerned too. We put a charger on the 12v battery for few minutes and it started. I was really surprised that the battery discharged that much in 45 minutes or so.

I hadn't had time to read all the manual to know this was an issue so I didn't know to tell the tech to keep the car in run mode, but will next time it needs to be on without driving for an extended period.

He did my front window 3x before he was happy, and a couple of windows twice. I've had my LC open for 4-6 hours, no issues... and I have the cargo hatch lights (mine never seem to turn off) and the door sill lights (which never turn off.)

I got a charger because of comments on the forum and have hooked it up once, of course after the fact I find out that I should have gotten a 5A or lower vs the 10A I purchased lol.

My LC was in the detail shop for 5 days — multiple alerts for doors open, multiple days… not sure how many times they started the engine (if at all) to move it but had no issues at all with battery charge.

The only electrical items I’ve installed is the OEM dash cam and aftermarket puddle lights

As with Every vehicle I have owned father the past 25+ yrs. When not in use it will be on s tender. I was a Deltra guy for yrs, but with li batteries in track cars, Noco tenders are my new go to.

Perfect way to run it through the grill!

I opted to leave it under hood. I plug in the charger, place it in the engine compartment along with the extension cord plug, close the hood and drape the extension cord over the driver's mirror.

1 - keeps the charger and cord weather proof.
2 - Keeps me from driving off with the extension cord still attached (don't ask why I think this is super important).

Does that pinch the extension cord? Where does the extension cord exit the hood after the hood is closed? pics? Thanks

I does a small amount, but I use either a 6" flat extension cord (added to the long extension cord) which still has small pinch marks or place a round cord (which leaves noticeable pinch marks on the cord) in the outer corner, where the fender and hood meets the head light. I haven't had to use a trickle charger once on the LC, since I installed the solar charger under the roof rack. On my Taco and my Mercedes I still use trickle chargers and use the extension cords.
